Hi,

I would imagine most of us either own or have owned a 2+2 seater 300ZX. Most of the US cars seem to be 2 seaters, and a lot of Japanese spec. cars are available in this guise.Personally I prefer the shape of the shorter 2 seat car, and might consider a Turbo 2 seater in the future.....how many out there own this spec. of car?

2-seater all the way wink.gif

Is lighter, smaller and feels like a go-cart...hehehe

Actually my previous TT was a 2+2 and my current TT is a 2-seater...and the handling is quite different.(shorter wheelbase, HICAS is slightly different)

Each has it's pro's and cons, the 2+2's feels more stable at high speeds (going straight) and on wet roads...fast cornering feels more sluggish in the 2+2's

2 seater has a larger/deeper *trunk* (nice for ICE), but with the 2+2's you can fold down the backseats... which is nice

I personally prefer the looks of the 2-seater..

Hi,

That's why the US cars have such good acceleration figures, as all the Turbo cars are lighter 2 seaters...only the NA's are available as 2+2's over there.

Morning all!

What was that you say Martin? TT, 2+2, Manual, Black..

Hmm that makes sense

LOL

Glen.

arrhh glen

i think you must still be half asleep but 3 out of 4 aint bad biggrin.gif

BTW many thanks for the post this morning, only 1 beer, well have to do better than that.

cheers

Not necessarily appropriate for the road of course, smile.gif but I believe when they were successfully raced by Steve Millen back in the early 90's, as a basis for the racecar they chose to use the 2+2 due to the longer wheelbase and improved stability.

Just remembered I have seen a SWB red 2 seater TT and it must have been imported about the same time as mine, because the number plate is only a couple of digits away. Something like J272NLO I think.

I forgot...another advantage of the 2-seater (IMO)

Since you're sitting almost on the rear-axle in the 2-seater it gives you a very direct feel of what is going on...

I dunno, it's hard to describe, but when the car wants to go sideways you feel it earlier then in a 2+2 (so you can correct it quicker)

This has saved me more then once from destroying my car. wink.gif

I also heard, but never really noticed it myself, that the 2-seaters have a tendency of *wheel-hopping* when you try to take off like a bat out of hell...(at least more then the 2+2's have this tendency)

But maybe I need bigger turbo's and at least 500+bhp to make it do this biggrin.gif

I ACTUALLY PREFER THE 2+2 FOR LOOKS, THIS IS QUITE FUNNY CAUSE ALL THE GUYS ON THE TTNET SAY "THEY PREFER THE 2+2 FOR LOOKS LOL)i have never been in a 2 seater so ill just be biased and say i like my 2+2

I do prefer the 2+2 because

. It has backseats, and I have kids

. I sometimes have to carry 2 people with me

. I can fold the backseats

. I can put two sun entrepise servers, including 2 x 21in monitors

. I prefer the shape of the 2+2

Then

. The 2+2 has a better weight distribution (50/50)

. Because of the weight distribution, the handling is more neutral

. Because of the weight distribution, breaking is better

. The 2+2 has more weight on the rear axis -> Better traction

. Longer wheelbase -> More stable

.The Super Hicas / 4ws makes the car corner real fast, so it's not a drawback

. Unfortunatey, the 2+2 is slightly heavier than the 2+0....that's why I'm on diet !!

. Steve Millen had to race a 2+0 (US rules)to achieve 2+2 performance he cut the car in half, and added a 2+2 section in between (and won everythink you can dream of with that setup)

At the last Geneva motor show, the kid pretending to be the local Z expert feeded me the usual "Real sports cars are 2 seaters" BS...(that is...BEFORE I told him what cars I have...I'm bad)....my answer was "Real sports cars have only ONE place...and...."would you dare and say that loud & clear in the middle of the PORSCHE stand, please ???)

If the Z were only 2+0, I would NOT have one.

I'd be driving a Supra Twin-Turbo instead.

Zee you

Henri

Jez,

I have a 2 seater TT, and there is a picture of it that Craig put into the Sutton Event words and pics. I have other pics if interested?

Mine is a 1994.7 and has the newer stock rear wing (4 point), rather than the "duck tail" (sorry guys!).

The model is slightly lighter and the weight has been lost from the rear. A 2+2 is 50/50 on weight distribution, not so the 2+0, so the handling is different on the 2 seater and I find the back quite loose. I am changing the tyres (from Nankang hard treads - ouch) and also fitting traction control, so hoping for a big improvement.

Basically they are both great cars, but I do love my 2 seater SWB TT.

Have a look at this URL for information: http://www.nissan.co.jp/COMPASS/FAIRLADY/9810MC/HTMLS/syuyosyo.html

Cheers, Geoff

And these would be 2 dwarf gymnasts that can contort themselves into the seats?

OR you have very short legs which gives the back seat passengers some leg room! biggrin.gif

OR, the 2 people are one in the passenger seat and one sprawled lengthwise across both back seats.... smile.gif

heh.. i prefer my 2+2 else the kids would have to walk....

there have also been times when there were two 6 foot people in the back of mine...

they were a little cramped, and watching them get out was "like a spider crawling out of a matchbox", but neither complained the whole way....

Yeah, Craig, that's because they couldn't draw in enough breath to allow speaking! biggrin.gif

Have got one 6 footer in the back of mine who took vicarious glee in waving to the disappearing specks that were the other motorists, so that kept him happy.

I use the back seats in mine for the things which would have gone in the boot if it was decently sized. To be honest though...I've grown to like the boot....was the perfect size for one of those tube subs... (I've no need for a power-disco as I value my hearing) and so when I open the boot it's sat in there neatly as if it was made specifically for the purpose.

I simply couldn't live with a SWB model (or in as the case usually is when I'm away) biggrin.gif

Just bought a gunmetal SWB TT. '92 Jap import.

Personally I prefer the look of the 2 seater, and as I don't have kids, the back seats are no use anyway.

Surprised at hearing the SWB is more 'tail happy' hear on this forum about watching the back end, but mine feels planted (bridgestones ?)

Hmmmm.. to back seat or not to back seat.......

With having a boot full of sub enclosures and amps, the back seat gets used for camping gear on trips to touring cars etc. This means that although I don't have kids, I NEED a back seat smile.gif Also, the Nissan test drivers prefered the 2+2 for its handling characteristics and said the 2 seater was a bit skittish....

Everyone to their own....

CheerZ,

Andy

PS. Don't want to upset anyone here but has anybody ever tried using the backseat for actually CREATING children??? biggrin.gif Just wondered thats all smile.gif

Six good reasons why it has to be 2+2........

1/ The 300ZX experience is one that should be

shared, the more seats the more people can

join in!

2/ The extra weight in the back helps with

traction?

3/ The back seat passengers can keep a look

out for the police!!

4/ No need for back seat passengers to wear

hats in the winter as their knees will

keep their ears warm.

5/ Provides a softer landing for the front

seat passenger when you boot it away from

the lights.

6/ And we all know what back seats were

really invented for eh?

I'd like to get a 2+0 just to stop my moaning friends from wining on about the lack of space!

But then again, WHY did nissan design a passenger chair that has to lock fully back before you can move it forward.... Doh!

i know thats a rite pain in the a#se especialy if you have a long passanger in the back at the passanger side
