Great site you folks have here.

Just got a 1990 300ZX for myself here in the USA.

Great car. I work at a dealership and it was traded in. Only 25,000 miles on it in 13 years! I had to buy it. It's burgundy no turbo 2 seater. (Sorry if thats not the right terminology, I'm new) I've been waiting for a "cream puff" sports car to come through for years.

Anyway, the car is perfect except for the front. The guy drove on the highway and got a lot of rock chips. Should I paint the front of the car or leave it for the sake of being original? I don't know how much of a collector car it will be, and I always hate to break factory paint if I don't have to. A bra would cover most of the trouble. On the other hand, I only had to pay $7500 (US) for the car, so I could afford to do some paintwork.

What do you think? Bra and all original, or paint it to fix the only problem?

Have you looked into getting just the chips fixed?

A good job will make it so you cant tell thats its been done. It should be a lot cheaper and will keep the original paint.

There is also an American site like this at http://www.twinturbo.net

But personally I think its got a little too big and you lose the personal touch unless you are on there 24/7. Your posts will get lost in the hords of others and you are quickly forgotten. Try it anyways, and welcome to our home :D

Get it painted properly and you wont know the difference, in my opinion bra's are for women NOT for cars

Paint the whole front or just do the chips?

I've heard from a few people that this car is hard to paint because of the textured bumpers and the color red I have is hard to match.

Any decent professional should be able to match it perfectly.

You can't be driving around in a smart car with loads of paint chips on it !

What's a bra?!

its a PVC covering that goes over the front of your car. stops stone chips.

they are quite popular in the states.

they detract from the lines & look of the car IMO

get it painted!!! :D

Never seen them.

They are huge leather covers that goes over the front of the car.

I dont see the point of them really, but I think in the dusty areas of the US there are a lot more stones about. Most of the ones in the US are chips from the tarmac or road works.

One car bra:D

Thnks for that picture kieth! That just made my decision, the bra looks terrible. I'll paint the front.

"how did it get so many rock chips if the mileage is sow low..."

The guy used the car as a commuter for a year and then garaged it afterword. Unfortunately, the commute involved some gravel to get to his house and he followed other cars too close. It is actual milage, the rest of the car is like new. I wish he would have used the ugly bra that year!

yeah get it painted, pay good money n get a good job and youd never know, id rather have chips on than that bra tho. jesus
