Ok, I bet you guys are biased but should I buy a 300ZX?

I have a 200SX (S13) at the moment which is fine but I think the 300 looks sweet.

I ride motorbikes so I'm used to high performance and I had a drive in a mate's Fairlady, which seemed pretty quick.

I almost bought the Fairlady (J-plate, 120,000kms, nice condition, £2500) but I'm terrified of huge repair bills.

The fuel consumption and insurance I can live with cos they're predictable but how much will servicing / engine repairs cost? What's a worst and best case figure?

(I bet people ask this question all the time...)

As said. New engine is the worse.

Turbos can go too which will cost about £1000 to do.

But there are so many people who can help you keep the cost right down, with quality 2nd hand bits, or alternatives to Nissan parts which tend to be cheaper or better.

Stuart

dont get one, get a supra instead

You could get a 300zx on Monday, perhaps sell it on Tuesday, buy a Skyline on Wednesday, and drive fast on Thursday and Friday, Saturday etc etc.. ;)

i would advise you to get a 300zx. i bought one in november for £6000 and have spent over £3000, kitting it up!!!. everytime i drive it people alway look plus its really fast. whatever you do a 300zx will cost money just check out this form but its worth it

from an avid zx fan (just about)

rav

yes:D

Do it! It's a terrifc car, and it makes you feel great when people in the street stop and turn to look as you drive past them. Very few others cars can make people do that.

Nevermind all that, tell me what's my flavour??? ROFLMFAO :D :D :D

You'll never regret it!!!

having previously had a st205 celica gt4 it just seems the build quality and reliability is poor on these (mine anyway) still it is 10 years old I suppose..... having said that I would not sell there is no car on the roads at the moment that is as distinctive

btw I am surprised you need to be enlightened just look at the posts on this board - "help my xxx is xxxxed" :) :D

Wow you must have asked your Dad for help on that quip:o

I doubt a car costing 4k - 6k that can go 160mph could be defined as " everything else suks" , sorry everyone for going off the thread but I am defending the name of the Z.......yawn:rolleyes:

I think you have got a dud.

I have had very little problems with mine. Rad, clutch and now it may need O2 sensors. 3 things for a 12 year old car with 160,000 miles.

I think its well worth having one over a new sports car which are getting slower and all look the same.

Stuart

yep point taken - i was just in a "black " mood :-) I am chilled its only a car anyhows u cant take it to bed!

  • 1 month later...

I agree with TANZX great cars but get the best you can there are some dogs out there so keep looking! One of the best cars I have ever had and I have had a few.

Good Luck
