bloody gauges.

a fully qualified muppett presented himself on my doorstep sunday to fit said gauges. lifted bonnet, scratched head, cup of tea, scratched head, jacked up car, scratched head, cup of tea, scratched head, fiddled under dash, scratched head, went home...............probably for cup of tea:rolleyes:

said he couldn't do it, probably 'best' to get nissan to do it, as i already have the gauges 'shouldn't' cost toooooooooooo much - knob.

anyhows, my problem is this......i have no problem spending the cash for someone else to do it, but i WANT to do it myself, i was miffed i had called him in the first place, so maybe a blessing in disguise.

Boost - (mechanical) makes sense, t-piece on the smallest vac hose (marked with red) and then bingo, as per henri-le-hir instructions.

Water - (electric) srrae sent me an extensive e.mail, but to clarify, as you look at top of rad, is it the left temp sensor with two wires and yellow clip, or the right sensor with just a black single wire? is it a case of simply 'splicing' one of the wires from one of these connectors in the engine with the gauge feed, or am i being completley stupid??

now:confused:  oil pressure. the gauge has a huge brass connector with it, i have figured out that the sender is located near the filter passenger side, so what the hell do i do??

if it is electrical, can i simply not take a feed from any existing wires from stock sender, as i really dont fancy scrweing this brass thing in, as srrae said it is nigh on impossible. i have crawled under the car several times and i just simply have no bloody idea with this one??

no worries with the illumination etc or power to oil pressure, just the bloody rigging up of the things under the bonnet. Any help and in particular pics would assist greatly.

I would really if poss like them done before sunday for the meet, and i dont mind getting covered in shite and oil if needs be.

ta!!

Water temp : you can try using the sensor with single wire (black rubber connector), which is used for the stock gauge..

I'm not sure if the sensor works with your gauge though...

Don't use the yellow connector, since it's used by the ECU and you very likely f#ck up the ECU's temp readings by splicing it.

Oil-pressure: probably you need to get a adapter to fit your sender.

There's an article about a VDO sender that should fit without problems on the aussie Zed site.

Boost: Dead easy, just like you said.

Water: The yellow plug is for the ECU (don't mess with it) the black plug is for the dash gauge.

Oil: You could use the existing sender, but it's the sender rather than the gauge which is inaccurate, therefore you would be best off using the one that comes with the new gauge.

As to whether existing senders put out signals/voltages that are compatible with the new gauges, only time or documentation will tell ...

HTH

Still have to plumb mine in.......went for BOOST and OIL TEMP.

They are in place (as you can see) cos I wanted to see what they look like!

Hey-when its parked up you can't tell they don't work.

Thanx for the pointers! :D

The Oil sender is a straight swap and dont use the stock one but keep hold of it for when you get T-Peice for it that will fit, there is no real need for the stock one. I wanted both on but the T-Piece was too long.

The water temp, the one on the left with the yellow clip is for the ECU. I tried putting it to that and the car wouldnt start and when it did start ran like a bag of poo.

The one on the right is purely the dash, and mine has been reading perfectly with my water gauge connected to this. Of course I have nothing to verify it with but its reading normal operational temperatures.

If you need any help send me an email and I will give you my phone number if you want

thanks ajay & mtl
