A couple of niggles I'm keen to resolve but I'm not sure how...hoping to crowdsource some direction!

My fuel door has become temperamental in opening. Is there some cable adjustment I can make to correct this? I can't see anything visibly wrong but it doesn't open every time and needs some (a lot) of encouraging.

I have a vibration through the steering wheel 90mph+ that remains once it's there. I did have some vibration through the seat but I've rebalanced my prop which seems to have resolved that part of the vibration. I've had wheels balanced and aligned, no spacers on the front anymore and new calipers, discs and pads fitted. The. vibrations have been there since my manual conversion. Could this be a gearbox issue / mount issue? Not sure what else to check / it could be.

Sometimes the floor matt can get under the leaver, not letting it go down enough.

Bend the small metal clasp carefully on the fuel flap, makes it more springy and will release faster.

Shaking at speed can be an imbalance of the steering column or wheels.

Check and see if any balance weights have fallen off your wheels is the first thing I would look at.

Yup - I concur....

Wheel balancing should be simple but you'd be surprised by how many tyre fitters can't do it properly 😉

And don't rule out a buckled wheel - or missing spigot rings. Again, I have had tyre fitters tell me that spigot rings are not relevant because the wheel nuts/bolts are chamfered. Nonsense!! I had wheel wobble after several balancing attempts a few years ago - and when said tyre fitter said told me spigot rings would make no difference, I went home, removed the wheels and fitted the spigot rings - and the wheel wobble mysteriously vanished!!

As for the fuel flap release, the cable will wear over time. Yes, it might get stuck en-route from lever to flap, but eventually it will stretch or the cable will wear through the plastic sleeve. I replaced my fuel flap/boot release cable earlier this year and have had no issues since. Luckily I found a brand new one on Ebay a couple of years ago, but you can still get a decent used one. It took me a couple of hours to remove and refit... It may be worth removing the boot trim to ensure everything moves as it should - there are a few places where things could snag, as it's essentially one cable for both and the movement is quite intricate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Update: I managed to resolve the fuel flap - the retaining bar had somehow worked its way upwards, leaving the bottom part of the hinge loose. This let the door sit at an angle which meant the release mechanism wasn't able to release the door. Thankfully a quick and east fix and it's back to working as it should!

No update yet on the vibrations as I've not been out in it much. I have a full day at Goodwood later in the month so will get a feel for it again then and aim to get it sorted over the Winter months. I have noticed a rubbing sounds though when driving from the near side. Increases with speed so something in the wheels - I have a feeling it might be my pads which overhang the disc slightly and may have worn down enough that it's now created a lip. Again, hope to figure it out more on track at Goodwood or at least wear it down more so it doesn't make as much noise!
