Good day folks,

I am pleased to announce that The Club has once again been accepted to exhibit at the NEC Classic Motor Show this November.

It runs from Friday 8th November to Sunday 10th November..... Our stand is in hall 4 - number 4-595 - coincidentally, the same as last year! It's 6m x 12m, so we can accommodate 4 cars comfortably; the exact plans will be determined nearer the time.

But for now, I am looking for volunteers to exhibit. It's always a great show and you'll get to have your car on display to thousands of visitors - but it's a full-on weekend. You have to deliver your car there at a fixed time on the Thursday morning, the day before, and you won't get to leave until late Sunday evening after all the visitors have departed. Ideally, we'd like you to remain there and help man the stand for the duration - but shifts can be organised, just like we have done in previous years.....

I appreciate it is a big commitment - but you will have the privilege of exhibiting your Zed on the world stage, in one of the very best classic car shows of the year - and everyone who has exhibited, has thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

We also have an Air BnB booked for participants about 15 minutes from the venue. We are still debating on whether the club will contribute towards the accommodation costs this year, but for now, we need volunteers..... If you are interested in exhibiting your car, please register your interest in this thread. We need 4 cars, plus one in reserve. Once we have enough interest, we'll put it to the vote in order to select the top 4 and go from there.

I know there are some great Zeds, both inside and outside the club - and we will be reaching out on our FB pages - but I would like to extend the privilege of exhibiting to fully subscribed members only. So if you are interested, but are currently not a subbed member, you know what to do....... 😉 

Ideally, we'd like to represent each style on the stand - LWB, SWB, convertible and modified.... But ultimately it's the members' choice - providing we get the volunteers!

.....It would be great to finally get your purple Zed on display though 😉 

Thinking of putting the spare engine in the Purple zed just so i can get it out.

Hopefully picking up a unit this week so will have plenty of room to get working on all my zeds.

I'd like to be considered for the stand at NEC, assume pictures are needed etc (added) 

 

I did it a few years ago with the MR2 Drivers Club for my SW20 Turbo, great event. 

I'll put my name down, but as always, I'll prefer people who have never done it to take my space! It is an amazing experience, well worth it!

With just 5 weeks to go until the show, I want to formally confirm the entries for this year......

Thus far we have had the following offer to display:

Andrew
Joel

With Lee hoping to bring along his Zed, but still coming to man the stand anyway.....

I'll drop everyone a PM now - along with messaging Ian to see if he's still up for working his magic on our display 🙂 

So I'm bringing this back to the top again as I really need to confirm our exhibitors ASAP - along with paying the balance of our rented house for those staying for the duration.

Don't give up hope yet Lee..... You have your unit now, so may be able to perform the engine swap in time. 

Confirmed exhibitors are Johnno & Tom.

Sadly Andrew cannot make it this year (we'll miss you greatly sir - especially your enthusiasm and interaction with visitors). 

JP yet to confirm - and I'm waiting on Ian to advise if he can assist with the stand.... And of course bring one of his Zeds along too 😉

So we're still on the lookout for back-up exhibitors, if anyone is interested 🙂

Just bringing this to the top again, as we may need a reserve car for the show.

Whilst this is a big commitment - your car will have to be on the stand from Thursday morning, right through to Sunday evening without moving - you don't necessarily have to be there all the time in person. But you can if you want..... We already have a couple of volunteers to man the stand (thank you guys - you unsung heroes know who you are 😉).

We have a house booked from Wednesday, if you do want to stay for the duration - the cost will be shared between everyone attending, so it won't cost you £££s

Come on folks; we have some great Zeds in the club - and this is a brilliant opportunity to have your car on display at one of the most prestigious shows in the UK. You'll enjoy it, trust me 🙂

Not sure if you have got sorted for a 4th car yet? I'd be happy to help out with a my ZX - but it's another red though! However would not be able to stay around as I'm teaching on the Friday. Would be back for the Saturday/Sunday. Let me know. Either way Jen and I will come to help on the Saturday.

Hope all's well.... And thank you for your kind offer - it's no problem that yours is another red Zed, and certainly no issue if you cannot be there for the duration 🙂 We've often had exhibitors drop their car off on Thursday, then return late Sunday to de-mob....

We have had a couple of potential volunteers on the FB page, but no definite commitments yet; plus I did start by offering club members first dibs 😉
