The 300zx Owners Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) - 25th June 2023

This years club AGM is being held at The British Motor Museum, Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwickshire CV35 0BJ. More information can be found here:

https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/

We have a function room booked and depending on confirmed numbers, a lunch will be laid on as well. We have the room booked from 10am to 3 pm. The BMM is a great museum with lots to see and do, but as an added bonus there happens to be a Classic Ford meeting being held as well!

As some members will have further to travel, we are making use of a local hotel to stay on the Saturday night. We normally meet at the hotel, have dinner together, several drinks and then get up on Sunday morning and plan a little drive to the museum for a bit of fun. If you would like to book a room, you can either book it yourself or comment in this thread, we will get the rooms booked and you can pay the hotel on the day. Details on the hotel are here:

https://www.marriott.com/en-gb/hotels/bhxwd-delta-hotels-warwick/overview/

Please remember that this is your club and the AGM is for all of you come and meet everyone, make friends and guide the clubs forward path. Without YOU a club would not exist, so we ask you to come to the AGM, make your suggestions, make your critisms and be part of making what you want the club to be. It doesnt matter if your Zed is rusty or not perfect quality, bring it along! We have all owned rusty projects in the past, so dont be ashamed. If your car is in pieces, come along in your daily driver! At the AGM, zeds are important, but the most important bit is you, yourself turning up!

Please add to this thread if you are coming on the day or will be joining us for the overnight stay.

See you all on the 25th June!

Well the last post on the Facebook web page is advertising last year's meet, and there's no mention of it on the Facebook group

Which Facebook group is it? Can you send me a link. I recently sold my soul and joined Facebook. I'll put a post up.

I'll be driving across the Sunday morning, only about a 40 minute drive for me. Look forward to meeting everyone.

Not sure how I missed this - but only just seen the AGM dates. We will try and get over on the Sunday morning, it's a 2 hr drive but the local hotels are mostly booked up and the linked Delta Hotel is now coming up at £400+ for one night!?? Anyhow all being well Jen and I will see you on the Sunday morning. Can you confirm exactly where on site at BMM we will meet? Or are we meeting somewhere else prior to driving in? I guess we could come to the Hotel where you are all staying first if that's easier? Thanks Jay

I think most of us are driving up first thing Sunday morning, so we will meet in the main car park somewhere

I think we are all aiming for about 9am

Yup - that's my plan.....

With the Ford Nationals, parking together may not be easy for late comers - but if a few of us get there early, we can commandeer an area just for us.

I'm only 40-odd mins down the M40, so will be heading up Sunday morning. I'm aiming to join the m40 at j5 around 8.15, if anyone wants to meet me there and run up together. It's also a good refuelling spot too as there's a Shell garage a few hundred meters (towards Wycombe - in Stokenchurch) from the exit 😉

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

3.5hours isn't too bad. I was used to driving uncomfortable buses for 10 hours a day, so a comfortable leather seat, Aircon and music makes 3.5 hours fly by!

The AGM is an annual event. All registered clubs in the UK must hold an AGM. We try to make it as fun as possible by hosting them at cool locations in the middle of the country so as many people as possible can make it. It is a chance for all members to meet each other and ask the committee and sub committee questions about the club, make suggestions to improve the club and generally enjoy a day out in our cars. We rent a conference room, have lunch while talking about the club and then go around the location we have picked and/or go for a drive.

Ah awesome! Really hope to make it and meet some owners for the first time 😃

We are on Holiday in Norfolk in ZX - unfortunately the steering is playing up, heavy, intermittent, feels like I'm fighting at times with steering. Taking her to Nissan garage today just to check. Hopefully nothing too serious that will stop us attending AGM.

Bad news on our Fairlady, just been to Nissan here in Mundesley Norfolk and she requires a outer steering shaft. Some how the outer shaft has torn apart, perhaps due to a seized U-joint? (or my driving?) Either way a big job I think? Help Jimmer? Will see how things transpire. Either way she's going home on a truck (last year's Holiday it was a rad!). Maybe we should leave her at home next year!

Definitely get it to Jimmer for a second opinion.....

Unless the Nissan Mandela actually knows anything about our cars (and very few even know what they are nowadays), then I wouldn't trust their prognosis!

A fair few years ago - still in my red Zed, so well before 2009 - I had an issue on hols where the car kept dropping into safety boost. I pulled into Nissan of Bodmin, whereby the technician tried to convince me that the turbos were sequential "like the Supra and GTR." I argued with him for ages, saying that they spooled up together, because there's one per bank, so something other than one turbo failing, therefore preventing the other spinning, was causing it to go into safety boost. It was only when I mentioned that I helped run the owners club and know a fair bit about the Z32, that he admitted they no longer had the necessary diagnostics to run a proper test LOL

FYI, it turned out that due to the hot weather, and that I had filled with inferior quality petrol at a dodgy remote garage a couple of days earlier, the engine was knocking. A quick refill with quality branded super UL solved the problem 😄

Shows what little Mandelas knew about the Z32 14 years ago, so I would have absolutely no faith in what they know now - seeing as few of their techies were even born when these cars stopped being sold here 😉

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I'd second the above, you issue sounds suspiciously like one I have been battling on my Z for a while. There are many things which could cause that which Jim will check through.

Thanks Guys - appreciate the encouragement. The Nissan technician was probably in his late 40's early 50's and reminisced a bit on the ZX engine and how his friend upgraded one to 600 bhp. But he was perplexed on what might have caused the outer steering shaft to fail. Our Fairlady should have gone straight to Jimmer today, but the recovery have her in storage until Friday after which she will finally arrive at PowerZed. I'm sure Jimmer will have her fixed in no time. Hopefully in time for me to pick her up next week, and then attend the AGM - and without any further breakdowns! We shall see. Only had her back from Jimmer a few weeks! No reflection on his superior workmanship - she's just old or maybe it's my youthful driving - lots of long straights in Lincolnshire.
