Let’s get a thread going with pictures, of off the shelf and custom made exhausts. Please include as many details as possible including the brand/manufacturer, bore/tip size, flow design (X/H etc) and any other relevant details. If you’re unsure of the specifics, post a picture and other members can help to identify it.

Feel free to duplicate systems that have already been posted to give ideas of the aesthetics on different colours and mod state cars. It doesn’t have to be your own car, post away!

I’ll start with what is probably the most common off the shelf system that was previously available for the 2+2; Mongoose/Blue Flame.

A basic but reasonable quality stainless, cat back system in 2.5” bore and quad 3” tips. This exhaust keeps the 2 banks seperate with no link pipes of any design. It has a small silencer in each pipe and the back box making it a very tame system when it comes to volume. Personally, I’m not a fan of the idle note and feel it may sound better with an X or H pipe downstream.

Mine is 3inch stainless exhaust  with extra silences so very light burble with no drone

built by allunox in Wrexham complete work of art but quite expensive…..built with 500bhp in mind but ended up nearly 700bhp ?‍♂️ we all know who’s fault that was !!

Thanks Joel! What would also help is people added videos so we could hear the exhaust! Idle and drive by perhaps (if you have them!)

......But whilst I liked the sound (not overly loud, just a nice burble) I always thought the tail pipes stuck out a little bit too far past the rear bumper.

So after 13 years, during a visit to Jimmer's, Jim got me talking to the guys next door. Infinity Exhausts made me a nice new cat-back system very similar to the old Mongoose - 2.5 inch bore and two separate banks, with a small silencer each side, just past the cats to keep cabin noise down at motorway speeds. I declined to have an X- or H-pipe as I didn't want too much of an in-car drone at cruising speeds, like some people have reported with the Jap-Speed type systems.....

This was finished with large quad pipes, almost squared off (just like the Billy Boat system in the USA), and slightly smaller rear silencers than the Mongoose, to give a deeper burble out back at idle.

Cost me £650 all in and took the guys at Infinity around two hours to fabricate and install. I'm happy with both the new look and sound - and I'll endeavour to add a recording shortly ?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My Z came with Kakimoto exhausts which are honestly one of the best sounding exhausts I’ve heard on a Jap car. Twin exhausts 3”. A bit noisy in town driving but in any other circumstance especially when you get on it, they sound heavenly and make the car TBH. The quality and welds are like artwork. I prefer the look of quad exit exhausts like what Joel and Richard have but for outright beastly noise, can’t beat the Kakimotos. Highly, highly recommended. Just not sure if you can get them. I know Aff68 got a new set over the last few years maybe.

Here’s some pics.

Some pics are from before my underside refurbishment so ignore the orange bits and dirty chassis - that’s all a distant memory now.

Front pipes have just been replaced with new from infinity exhausts (not shown in pictures).

Not got a sound clip@sumshiftyguy but you’ll hear mine when we do a south meet up hopefully end of August. I’ll dig through my service history, find the cost and update later on.

Having heard Z32 exhausts the world over (litterally), the most impressive sounding are without doubt the ABFLug/Veilside systems as well as the B&B system from the US, not a lot comes close for exotic refinement. In terms of visual appeal, that's a tie up between ABFlug and B&B. I had a Veilside Evolution system on my Z32, it sounded wonderful, not quite as nice as the ABFlug to look at although they used the same manufacturers to produce and used the same cans (they sounded identical) but the ABflug Superior system wins on looks although nigh on impossible to find anymore.

I've got 3" Kakimoto straight through exhaust, agree with @Raja93 they sound amazing. I believe that you can get a varient of what I and Raja have on our cars from https://www.nengun.com/kakimoto-racing/

Mine had a Kakimoto single exit on it when imported and sounded absolutely amazing! I only removed it for aesthetics but it was a big loss in the sound department and I’m fairly sure my Mongoose choked some power over the Kakimoto too!

Lovely looking examples but we're lacking some details on these posts! For this thread to be useful could we make sure to include details as Joel's original post suggests? And better still, some video / audio clips of them in action?
