So on Saturday, I headed west to Infinity Exhausts - next door to Jimmer - to have a nice new exhaust built and fitted....

........It looks just like the BB system from America, so the tails fill the apertures in the rear bumper very nicely. I didn't go for an X- or H-pipe link, keeping each side separate, just like my old Mongoose. Mindful that I didn't want it too loud, the guys at Infinity added a small silencer each side, just after the cats.... So it makes a nice burble right out back at idle, yet still remains relatively quiet at motorway speeds.

Plus I asked for the tails not to protrude past the rear bumper, like my old system did.... And they got everything just right!!

Needless to say, I am extremely happy with the result ?

Plus I popped in for a chat, a cup of tea and a sandwich with Sir Jimmer too!!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Looks tasty Richard ? Keen to hear your feedback on the sound compared to the Mongoose system after some use.

Thanks JP...!

As for comparisons it is certainly a more throaty, deeper, burble at idle out back - as a couple of my car-loving colleagues pointed out today. Hell, they could feel the vibrations when touching the building wall behind me  ?

And pootling along at 20-30mph, I can definitely hear a deeper sound; albeit I don't think it's actually louder. However, at motorway speeds, I actually find it quieter than the old Mongoose - I reckon I need to take the Zed on another holiday to determine for sure!!

Sounds like you’ve nailed the perfect system! ?

Hopefully - I guess a few road trips will tell. The guys at Infinity certainly know their stuff though, and come highly recommended by Jimmer... They took the time to discuss what I wanted, and even made sure the tails did not sit too far outside the bumper. Something that always niggled me about the Mongoose!

Looks awesome Richard!

I am looking to replace mine and have always liked the Mongoose tailpipe design and size, but like you I'd prefer something that doesn't sit out quite as far as the Mongoose.

How does it sound when the loud pedal is buried?! ?

We should really start a thread for exhaust pics and vids so that we can see what's out there for our cars. I will want to do something to mine but clueless as to which way to go

I have an Apexi exhaust on mine and just noticed 4 on ebay for sale which is very rare.

Plus two other for swb and lwb N/A and a swb for a turbo.

Good idea Vig...!

Custom made is probably the best option nowadays - and if Jim recommends Infinity, that's good enough for me ?

Cheers Adam - and great minds, it seems ?

It sounds pretty good, mate - nice and deep but not intrusive.

I guess my main struggle is knowing what different sounds can be had from our engines. I expect it would be pretty pointless if i wanted into Infinity and told them to make my car sound like an v8 AMG ?

LOL.... Nonetheless, two friends implied that the Zed sounded better than [one of] their v8 XJR yesterday - I can live with that ?
