Hi Guys & Girls,

The Porsche is up and running very nicely, so onto the 300.

I am looking to refurb the front and rear subframes, the whole underside, brake lines, PS lines & Fuel lines. Big Job.

Started by removing the rear bumper, looks like it has never been off before, then draining the petrol (still in the process).

Took some underside pictures of the task in hand, it’s not bad mostly surface rust. I will be cutting all rust out and welding it my

self, if I can build a complex Porsche engine and it hasn’t exploded after 300 miles, anything is worth a try.

Hi not been able to do much last few months but got my petrol tank back from being powder coated.

Diff looks good I’m only going to replace the drive oil seals + new fill, drain plugs & vent pipe.

I managed to get the drivers seat out and carpet up a bit to see where the floor meets the sill,

It was not as bad as I expected.

This Easter I have been stripping the front end I’m hoping to drop the engine, gearbox and suspension out from underneath. Then I’m planning on buying a rotisserie to make things easier to work on the underneath.

Love the effort going into this - be worth it in the end!

Hi been a little while spent most of last month in the US seeing family,

Well back in the real world, stripping the car. When I took it off the road I gave it a last blast down the motorway and the double nuts on the exhaust down pipes cane lose some fell off not so bad was worried because of the noise, also I had coolant pouring out of the front somewhere. Looks to be above the water pump in the valley.

I learnt a hard lesson lesson last time I took the engine out, the crankshaft cog was seized and had to be cut off, but before that I tried to pry it off and a hairline crack was made in the oil pump, this was only found once the engine was put back In and started, so be very carefully cut it rather than pry it off, I put some copper slip on the shaft and this time it slid off with very little pressure.

Not the easiest way but worked for me.

I managed on my own to get the engine on a stand and lowered the car back down, not easy.

Got most of the engine stripped, I wanted to see the bearing shells car has done 97,000 klm and just want to get away with new standard ones.

Will remove more tomorrow.

The twin turbo engine is a lot of work to disassemble, so many parts have to come off in a certain order, I have new manifolds and downpipes so a full strip down is required.

Stripped moat of the engine bearings are worn but perfect for just changing so glad I’m doing it now rather than waiting till it was to late.

Started the Laser up for the first time this year and got a very quick clean of the cylinder head before it started raining.

Hours of cleaning in 5 mins
