Whilst I'm pleased that prices for the cars are strengthening, I can't help feel that the prices I'd the parts are going to go up dramatically too and we'll end up with a "Zed Tax" similar to the "Skyline Tax" .

That's been up for sale for months, just like the black 1994 at HJA. You'd think the idiots that runs these businesses would learn, but no. They are just chancing it that they can fuck someone by charging double what it's worth.

Rather like the idiots who bought these for example Alex:

Post as many unrelated examples as you like. The cars are still for sale and have been for ages. That's my point. Do I need to repeat it for a third time?

There’s always been an element of that, the cars share so much that it’s always reflected on the cost of parts.

The cost of parts for Z32s have always been excessive for what is a non premium brand, compare what parts cost for say fords of a similar vintage or American cars. You could rebuild a whole Golf for the cost of a set of Z32 exterior trims and the Golf would be worth more. As an example Temp sensor for a z32 £28 for a mk2 golf £6. Admittedly It could be worse, Porsche parts are quite expensive but then it’s a bloody Porsche not the same company that brought you the Micra and the Bluebird.

I think the rise in price to a certain point is good because it makes it more justifiable to actually spend money on them. There was a time not that long ago that a 60k service, especially if you had to pay for labour, would make a Z32 an uneconomical repair. It’s now actually worthwhile to look after the damn things.

No one is listening to you Alex may be you need to get up to speed on what the best of the best is selling for.

Again, the fact that the cars are still for sale after all this time proves my point a thousand times over. I don't understand why you are still confused by this, it's very simple.

So you are resorting to trolling as the foundation for you argument? I would say I expected better from a committee member of this club, but the way it has gone downhill over recent years I am not surprised at all.

How about everyone just steps away from the keyboard for a moment.

Both of you type in a way that can provoke. Maybe you don't see it yourselves, but you do.

So just leave it be. Both have different opinions. No saying who's is right or wrong.

As committee members, mine - and Gary's - primary objective is to do what's best for the club, come what may. We endeavour to do our best, but like anything, we cannot please everybody, all of the time.

Your primary objective, Alex_ GT (or who ever you may be behind that keyboard), from what I see in all your posts, is to spread negativity in every which way you can. If you have anything constructive to say, both in the interest of the Z32 or, perhaps, some ideas on how we can improve the club for all our members, please do let us know.

But if not - and it pains me to say this - you pays your money (or not, in your case) you takes your choice, so if you don't like it here, you know where the door is?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

These guys sell some seriously nice cars. They’ve got a YouTube channel showing how they restore some of these cars to brand new condition - a great watch IMO.

Makes sense, if you can't shift something, put the price up.

Did you notice that on the seller's website the vehicle actually shows as being sold? What do you think the reason is for that?

Pretty standard at the moment. All second hand cars going up in price.

Had a Mate get a price from a webuyanycar equivalent. Took his car in 2 days later and they bumped his price by nearly a £1k.

Definitely most car prices in the second hand market has gone up along with house prices. Its a sellers market but will it last?

It’s been linked to the parts supply shortages for new cars so less new car production - I assume once the supply chain sorts itself out, the common second hand car prices/demand will ease off. As to cars like ours, they’ll probably continue to rise, especially as the modern sports car gets more and more dull.

The "retro" Japanese car market is a bubble that will inevitably burst. More than likely the prices are being manipulated in an attempt to screw actual enthusiasts out of their hard earned money.

You have to ask yourself who has been buying the thousands and thousands of 90's Japanese sports cars that have been sold over the past decade or so since the bubble started. They certainly aren't being bought by genuine enthusiasts as they have been totally priced out of the market at this point.

The other thing to consider is that many of these makes/models from the 90's are not that rare/exclusive. Just look at Skylines, Nissan made absolutely thousands of them over the years and many still exist today, but the prices are ridiculous.

Remember back to what happened with coin collecting in the late 1980's, insane prices being fuelled by market manipulation, and once the market crashed the prices never recovered to anything close to what they were at their peak even to this day.

However I still fear that many genuine enthusiasts have been conned along the way, which is sad.

This is very true - and fuelled (pardon the pun) by a shortage of new cars!

My Z4 would sell today, at c£6k more than I paid for it last October. Granted, that may be partly due to the seasonal adjustment of sports/convertible car prices, but the current demand is vastly outstripping the supply.

I would concur with Alex, in part, though; that the current market is artificially buoyed - and that the demand will not continue to outstrip supply. However, there remains a growing market for modern classic cars, as people (read men, having a mid-life crisis) look to re-live their youth in the cars they loved as a teenager. And these people now have the disposable income to live that dream; hence the demand. I mean look how much certain 1980s "fast Fords" are fetching....

As with the the aforementioned Skyline - just like the Supra - the prices have indeed sky-rocketed. This in turn will make potential buyers look elsewhere, for a cheaper alternative - 300zx for example - thus demand starts to push those prices up. And speaking of the Supra, as anyone seen how much some Mk3 Supras are selling for? These were £2k Ebay specials a few years ago, but even they are fetching £15k in good condition....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
