Hi everyone,

Just purchased my first ever 300ZX 4 days ago after many years of dealing with 350z.

Fresh mot today and back on the road after 3 years of being stood.

Its covered 90,000 km so looking to do the timing belt and water pump.

Anything else I should be looking out for or any advice on whats needed to be replaced or not replaced.

Ill get some pictures In the next few days when it's actually clean!

Thanks

Alan

Well you made a great choice for starters:), I would advise a brake fluid refresh along with a full service and cambelt as you have mentioned.

Thanks guys,

It needs some tlc don't get me wrong but first things first and refresh all the major parts.

Trying to locate a gates timing belt kit and genuine water pump but they seem difficult to find in the UK.

Any recomendations of where I might be able to get one at the moment.

Car has covered around 63k so I presume its a full kit I need.

Thanks

Alan

I was going to suggest https://www.allcarpartsfast.co.uk/

which many of us have used. But I see they have a stop on Nissan parts at the moment dute to CV19.

If you can't source in the UK see if CZP in the states can ship to the UK (again used by many on here).

Normally orders get over here in a few days, but CV19 may affect that.

BTW I would always use OEM parts (part #'s shown):

Would you recomend just the belt change then or the full kit?

Car has covered 92000 kilometers and only covered 8000 since being imported in 2008.

Seems advice I have found is the pulkys should be fine untill 120k but I suppose I am just being over cautious with them being 30 years old.

Thats what i was thinking, I just can't seem to find anyone with one in stock.

Gates seem to be the only people offering a kit its just finding it.

Hi and welcome to the club,  definitely the full kit don’t go for gates I did and belt did not fit properly, Nissan OEM parts for the kit.

For reference these are the bits in a 60K service kit:

and for 120K:

Provided the cambelt pulleys are running smooth then you don't really need to replace them at the 60K service.

Hi and welcome to the club Alan - and good luck with your new toy!

With regards the 'belt change, go for the full kit. However at 90k km, you could indeed probably leave out the pulleys and tensioners until the next one. But definitely change the waterpump, thermostat and the little rubber hoses.

Thank you too, for your support in subscribing; always appreciated mate!
