Hi All,

Newbie here (kind of). Made an account almost a decade ago when my older brother was going to buy a 300zx but he never did - was doing some research for him. Just went to sign up and realised I've still got an account with the forum under my email address!

About a month ago at the spur of the moment I went and bought a lovely Jap spec blue 300zx TT Manual LWB with about 390 bhp, off of a guy called Ollie in Herefordshire. I believe the previous owner to him was and maybe is still a member here (from Scotland). Drove back during the storm Dennis on a Sunday for 3.5 hours in the pouring rain which was interesting but so worth it.

An over view of the cars spec is;

- 390bhp tuned by ProTuner

- stock turbos and internals

- 800cc injectors, selin twin maf conversion, Kakimoto mid and rear section exhausts, aftermarket turbo elbows, downpipes, front pipes etc. EBC, 98 spec manual gearbox, K Sport big front brakes, stock rears, Veilside Andrews racing split rim wheels in gunmetal grey, two tone grey/black leather seats, hicas lock out, fairly new polybushed rear end and BC Racing shocks. List goes on but that's some key bits from memory.

- 98k miles

- Appears to have been very well maintained with a lever arch of service history from the previous owners. I've just added a wad to the history with the list below;

I've got plenty of plans consisting of refreshing the car including modernising where possible to create an OEM+ look (no chav cheap bits don't worry).

The zed is booked into the bodyshop tomorrow to get the following done;

- 99 spec front bumper

- 99 spec HID Xenon headlights (very excited for this one as so rare)

- Respray to bonnet, both front arches, drivers door, rear bumper and getting rid of surface rust to around rear lights/spoiler

- Some replacement exterior trim where needed and also trims missing between boot and rear lights

Since having the car, being a keen car detailer, I've given it a thorough clean with clay bar, polish and wax including a refresh to all the rubber/vinyl trims exterior and interior. Car is looking beautiful and is washed weekly. Replaced rusty wheel nuts with new silver nuts, which look great against the gunmetal grey Veilside Andrews Racing wheels.

Following the bodyshop works, I've got on order and planned the following bits in the near future;

- Fit 99 spec rear centre light (the reverse lights with the red 300zx text). The main lights themselves are 99 spec but the middle unit was never changed

- Engine oil/filter change and full brake fluid flush

- Source a 2nd hand air conditioning compressor and get it reconditioned and then installed as the previous item exploded under the last owners ownership

For later on in the year or next year, I'll be doing the following;

- Full leather retrim as existing leather is cracking up/poor quality. I've had a look online and seen Hide n Seat interiors seem to do amazing interiors and bonus is the owner has a mint silver SWB TT which I saw years ago at the Birmingham NEC classic car show.

- Get a double din music system trim kit so I can fit a nice double din screen unit with modern features such as bluetooth etc. and also change all speakers

- Paint the stock rear Z32 brakes in black to match the K Sport fronts

- Sills need re-doing as they have rusted in areas from where its been jacked up in the wrong location!! Paint has obviously been damaged and flaked off leaving the bare metal to rust so will get this sorted

- Fit Michellin PS4 tyres when the current tyres have worn out

- Probably go for more power but to be honest, coming from a Lexus as my previous car, this car should keep me entertained for quite some time.

Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome [emoji1417] sorry I couldn’t work out how to upload photos when I was signed in on the laptop. Just downloaded Tapatalk so hopefully can do now.

So I’ve uploaded a bunch of photos of what the car looks like at the moment and also of the 99 spec parts. Car is back from the body shop this Friday hopefully so will send update pictures then.

Absolutely love the beast so far - The power delivery and chassis are just beautiful. My older bro had a N/A one back in the year 2000 when I was 6 years old, followed by a skyline r33 gts-t, so I practically grew up around these cars.

Thanks Gaz [emoji1417]. After last nights government update, got me worried thinking I hope they haven’t started works on the car then having to shut the body shop, but thankfully popped in today and they said they didn’t start it so going to collect later. Such a shame but I guess it’ll get done once all this madness is over! Stay safe everyone.

What a beautiful beast, so straight and clean and love the subtle but purposeful stillen front splitter. Wheels look of a very similar design to mine. How long have you had her?

Thank you sir!

This is my second Zed; I bought it in 2009 with 69k on the clock - it's now covered 116k miles, so I am not shy about driving it! I did have the sills replaced in 2018 - along with some additional welding and rust-proofing works. I also had it resprayed at the same time; albeit more of a blow-over as opposed to a full bare metal job.

Here's some interior pics too..... Not that I need an excuse to share Zed photos:classic_wink:

That is a long time indeed. Blow overs help so much as they get rid of stone chips and general wear and tear which ruin the finish tbh. Had mine for just over a month now! It’s my third car and it’s 8 months older than me hah!

I need to get my sills done too and rust proofing. Chassis is generally rust free but sills have started to rust from being jacked on the pinch welds sadly. Need to sort before this winter as like you I use my car quite a bit; every few days - probably a similar mileage to you actually at circa 5k miles a year.

Wow love the interior and that retrimmed steering wheel - the red zed badge really helps lift it. I’ve got to get in touch with royal steering wheels and get mine done.

Your leather is in fantastic condition btw - looks really well maintained; smooth and matt finish [emoji16]. I found the best leather care products on the market are Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil. It transforms leather and makes it feel brand new with that Matt finish. Has to sit for min 1 day ideally in the sun or warm weather (easier said than done in the Uk!) but better for few days longer. Costs about £60-£70 and can be bought from MotorGeek uk online. Used on all my previous cars and even on house furniture.

Loving the metal door levers - got them too!

Hi Naz,

I'm the Scottish owner that had the car for around 6 years or so and sold to Ollie.

It's had been well looked after by it's first Uk owner, I spent a few quid and also looked after it and Ollie carried this on.

Nice to see it will carry on the same way ?

I had the A/C compressor replaced with a used refurb item, possibly this one that failed unless Ollie changed it again.

TBH I would buy a new one, as any second hand unit will be over 20 years old and refurb or not, I wouldn't trust.

Hi Shooze, yeah the car is mine and has been since February this year [emoji1].

It's at PowerZ at the moment isn't it? I nearly bought it back in Feb! If you fancy selling it at all please let me know mate!! Or if you fancy a deal with an RX7!

Yeah it is indeed at PowerZed - picking it up tomorrow. Have you been down there recently? I do love Rx7’s but I also love this car to bits mate sorry. Going to keep it for the long term. Even if I didn’t absolutely love it, after I rust proof and powder coat the chassis in next few months, I’d have spent more than the purchase price since I bought it! so that would stop me selling it anyway haha.

Good luck with your search [emoji1417].
