I'm after a new Cat 1 alarm system. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on decent ones?

I’ve seen a local (to me) and very reputable auto technician saying great things about a Viper 3 circuit system. Model is the 106v.

Annnnd that’s an immobiliser. You asked for an alarm.

Apologies!

Sigma S30. Nothing fancy but simple and reliable.

I was looking at that last night. My other one has a Sigma M30. Looking at that looks pretty easy to fit too

I have a Toad Ai606 alarm/immobiliser with an extra switchable microwave cabin detector for when the targas are off. Been pretty

reliable since it was fitted back in '01.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

Thanks Andrew.

Don't think I'd ever leave it with the roof off. That being said, places like convetry or the NEC show etc could be prime times for that circumstance the happen

I have the same alarm on Zebedee with the auto closure stuff as well. The white zed has a clifford one however if i were to choose one id say the Toad one.

I recently had a new siren fitted and the service was very good.

Definitely Clifford, but regardless what you pick, it will only be as good as the person that installs it. Keep that in mind!

Thanks guys.

I think I'll be fitting it myself. The last one (Cobra) was fitted horribly in my opinion. Wiring just felt like it was all over the place. Also when the car came back to me, the siren etc was missing and I just decided to tear it all out as was a nightmare trying to work through it when trying to get the car going.

This is why I now want a new one. I guess most Cat1s are similar really.

Thanks Andrew.

I wouldn't think installation would be hard. I guess it's the toss up of having someone do it for a hundred quid for the ease of me being lazy

Lee id say you are ideally placed to say if an insurer requires the installers certificate to validate any insurance premium discount and assurance that the unit operates as intended ?

Also i think the warrenty with toad might not be valid for a diy install.

From the insurance side, I have to have one fitted. I could get the certificate satisfied by getting it checked. I know turners alarms hacked the old one. But they aren't around any longer.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Do not get a Clifford whatever you do.A lot of installers i have spoken too wont entertain them after reliability issues. The Toad is plain and simple and does all you need an alarm to do.
