Hi all, so I've had my tt for a few weeks, fixing stuff as I go, the conzult interface arrived this week, so plumbed in and I have two codes, the knock sensor so that explains the over fueling (hope so) and 54 Circuit from AT transmission..... Urghhhh? She's deffo a manual

When I bought her the hpi said 5 speed manual, the v5 does not state either.

So could it have been converted from auto to manual at some point, keeping the auto ecu but then how does hpi know its a manual and the dvla doesn't?

Or has the manual ecu failed and been swapped for a auto?

I've read that auto turbos are different, and the radiator cowl, as it happens I don't have a radiator cowl, I'm sure there are other differences, is there a definitive way to tell if she came out of the factory as an auto , and what issues may I get or look out for if she has been converted?

Thanks in advance

Wow that looks awesome

Is there anything that's gonna trip me up if it has been converted? I've read about high idleing and stuff , it doesnt do that, I cant say I'm that concerned , I just don't wanna be followinv a workshop manual looking for stuff that may not be there

I've done 2 full conversions now and never had an issue with a high idle or anything else.

Only thing was having slightly smaller turbos, but the auto turbos spool up faster.

Below is a pic of my old auto turbos compared to my new ones.

First plenty of visual clues with a conversion. The biggest been the auto wiring loom on the drivers side inner wing. Also the radiator will have a trans cooler pipes, the shroud is not different though. The knock sensor circuit issue will not cause an over rich situation but will reduce power both on turbo and non turbo engines.

The code 54 could be due to an auto chip been used, below the dash cluster on the right hand side above the ignition key has three light panels for auto, on manuals they are blanks.

Thanks Jeff, that solves it, I have 3 lights on the right above the key, the middle one says mission oil

So I suppose the next question is when I need to replace stuff, like rads or oil coolers or anything that was in line of the auto box , do I buy auto or manual? During the conversion is there anything auto related that needs to be retained?

Still confused about the hpi report saying manual, whoever had the conversion done must have updated the DVLA, yet the log book doesn't mention it.

Thanks in advance

What is this "UK spec" registry? Does it work like fight club?

Right now it's a spreadsheet I'm slowly building up with the details of all the 1548 UK specs imported by Nissan

with a view to getting a picture of how many are still on the road and what's become of the rest.

Interesting. How far along is it? :) How much data have you collected so far?

Ahhh, and there was me thinking that the first rule about UK Z's is you don’t talk about UK Z's… ”

When you have a minute would you PM me the car's VIN so that I can update my "UK spec" registry?

Nice to see another UK spec in the Club.

Will do but after finding out she used to be an auto, how do I know she's a UK car, could be a Toyota carolla at this point!
