Taking the Z to Bordeaux for Easter weekend.

Thinking of night driving do I need headlight adjustment stickers?

Legally yes. For the last two tours in France I bought the stickers but never fitted them. On the odd occasion when

driving at night I was conscious of potentially dazling oncoming drivers - got the odd flash from them. For the cost I

would fit them. Enjoy the great wines!

Yes you do, you also need carry hi-vis jackets, bulb kit, warning triangle, insurance/V5 documents. Don't worry about the breathalysers, they're not actually mandatory.

Because it the moment that date is looking to be post-Brext, you'll also need to get an IDP from the post office.

Thank you for the useful info.

I have the triangle & bulbs, I do have the light stickers in the garage.

I need the Hi Vis jacket & IDP

That was or is my other concern Brexit?

I should add that you need to keep the Hi-Vis vests (one for each person in the car) within reach inside the car *before*

you get out putting them on as you do. You must wear them if you are involved in accident or breakdown and are outside

the car. The French police are very strict on this matter. If you are asked to produce the vest and have to retrieve it from

the boot from outside then you are commiting an offence and can be fined.

You also need to take the camera with you.

Have fun and take care on the roads.

yup - it's the 300zx-owners' law....

One question - for you seasoned EU trippers - how does the spare bulb law work with modern cars, which have HID or even LED lighting; where the handbook specifically directs you to have a garage replace the bulb?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The locals put them on the dash, it gives the plod no excuse to try it on. Also keeps the Yellow Jackets peaceful. I was over in December and found this out.

Actually the locals put them on the dash not for the police reason at all. It's purely for their support for the 'gilet jaune' protests and has only been a thing since the protests first started in November last year.

Ignoring the fact that I also mentioned the yellow jackets, being the translation of the French name of the movement you used. The police thing is why the jackets became a political symbol in the first place. But hey what do I know.

Yes I know this, I can speak French. ;)

Having them displayed on the dash is not to do with the plod. They are indeed used as that symbol as you described in your second post. :)

The replacement bulb kits are a pointless law on many new cars as bumpers need removing to access the headlights....cannot see the Gendarmes allowing that on the hard shoulder !

Yes. It's an offence like it is here to drive with a blown bulb as suggested in that article. If you have a car with full LED lighting then a bulb kit is irrelevant.

According to official RAC and AA documents, a bulb kit is not mandatory, it's recommendation only.

I have the license since 2003, i have never had a light box in my cars

As I have HIDs I will take a spare & spare other bulbs for indicators & brakes.

Hi Vis jackets arriving today.

Better get a green card and international driving permit.
