Hi folks,

I have an intermittent issue with my boot catch - more specifically the circuit for the light/door open warning light. It seems to be earthing badly - or not at all. With the boot firmly shut, the interior light/door open dash warning remain on - or flicker on/off when driving.

I have tried inserting a screwdriver into the catch (with the boot open) to mimic the boot being closed and sometimes it goes out, sometimes it doesn't. When I unbolted the catch, the light flickered and the circuit "clicked" with every turn of each bolt. And wiring a separate earth made no difference at all...

Should I just get a replacement boot catch - or does anyone have an idea how to fix it... Other than pulling off the wire to the light circuit:lol:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I’ve got the same issue, and I’m yet to figure it out.... Jeoly might have a suggestion as he was helping me figure mine out

I had that problem with the green Zed but fixed it by putting the catch at maximum closing force

LOL - no! I removed the bulb from the boot light 3 years ago because the alarm kept going off without reason......

Problem solved.....

…..I did try popping the boot light bulb back in, but to no avail. The damn thing just stayed on - along with the interior light - when I shut the boot... However I fitted a replacement boot catch, just £25 from an Ebay breaker, and the problem is solved. I could do with new bolts though, as the original ones are showing signs of thread stripping; so I don't want to be tightening them too much at the mo...

And since the circuit appears to be in order once more, I decided to pop an LED bulb in the boot light afterwards. Let's hope I don't get the alarm issue that caused me to remove the bulb a few years back...

Glad to see it sorted Richard.

Cheers Gary - and just a shame the roads here are still covered in salty crap; following the six-inches of snow that fell on Tuesday afternoon... As I really wanted to take it out for a wee blast afterwards. But I resisted....

LOL - I sure did mate... Si would have been proud of me...

Seriously though, after spending a few bob on welding, rustproofing and respraying last year, I like to think I have learned my lesson. I'm still going to keep it taxed all year though - just for those few mild, dry winter days when it should be fine to take the Zed out.....
