Mine's laid up for the winter now too. I don't SORN it as I still hope to have one of those off rare dry salt-free days between now and the spring.

The weather is dreadful now and we had salt and shit on the roads last week and now stupid amounts of water this week.

I’m the same Simon, for a saving of a few quid over the off chance of a clean winter blast I’d rather pay the tax.

Did you? we didn't.....!!

However I did see ambient temperatures of -3 degrees for a couple of mornings last week:oops:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

You would have had salt on the roads, I was in London last week and saw i; thing is Richard, you never pay attention to that fact which is why your Z turned into the ferrous ore from whence it came! ;)

You'll be paying more attention now I'm sure!!

LOL - yes you are right Si.; I will....

And Chiltern council should have salted the roads - but they often don't, unless prolonged ice or snow is threatened or a road temperature of 0 is predicted in advance. Which is we also have a Range Rover for winter...

I wish there was a website which mapped areas of salt application dates on which roads. I would pay to subscribe to it!

You know I was thinking about exactly the same thing the other day. I am sure car enthusiasts would use it in their droves, especially classic owners.

The hard part (after collaboration with councils) would be to work out how much salt is on the roads when they didn't grit. EG. Night 1 falls to below zero, gritters come out and destroy everything, night 2, it's cloudy but doesn't rain keeping temperatures above freezing so gritters don't need to go out indicating a no-salt day, but there's still salt everywhere.....or it rains, but not enough to wash it away. Gritters don't go out the next day, but there's still salt everywhere. Getting the right information would be nigh-on impossible without teams of weather watchers and scientists measuring everything.

Salt is such awful stuff for cars, especially older ones which have been exposed to the environment for longer and don't have the protection modern cars do not to mention the damage it does to the paint itself.

Best thing is to use ya noodle and not go out in it or make double sure it's rained, washed it all away and dried before the temperatures dip resulting in gritters coming back out!

Sadly, they send gritters out when they don't really need to. In Northern France, it generally needs to be quite a few degrees below freezing or for an ice warning for them to grit and the roads are plenty fine for driving on.

Any Autumn pics of your Z ?

Yep!!

It was a decent morning here in Notts today so I went out for a short run and took a couple of autumn shots.

That’s a slippery slope Pete. And I don’t mean the hill you’re parked on!

Well it was too good an opportunity to pass up on Joel.

It highlights lots of stuff that is reviled about my car..... Caravan rear lights, silly tow strap, chavtastic bonnet pins , trim all missing, loud orange paintwork, no spoiler,no targas, no turbos etc etc.:whistling:

Here is one I took today LOl!! I was planning on a return trip to Three Sisters but the weather was poor so I didnt go. I have already seen some pics of a Subaru that crashed at the same bit of the circuit on a wet/greasy track.:scared:

Im gonna park it up now as its even worse to drive in shitty weather than it is in good weather.

So possibly the last pic of 2018. shame someone parked that Ford Mundane estate in the way:thumbdown:
