Hi all,

Thanks for accepting my request to join the group.

My name is Jamie, I live in Essex and I have just purchased my first 300ZX. My aim is to bring it back to its former glory. Although it has MOT and able to drive it, I am putting it into my garage as a project for the next year. Needs some paint TLC, electrics, wheel refurbishment and some general love including a crazy mad speedometer.

I'm hoping your experience can help me going forward.

So a little bit about the car:

1989 Nissan 300zx NA, 70k miles and imported from Japan (my first imported car) hoping as non turbo is may be less likely to break weekly lol

Welcome to the club mate. Nice looking zed there, though personally not too keen on the front bumper. You're in the right place for advice and my first advice would be check here FIRST.

And you have a garage so I hate you now lol. Rust check and 120k service would be the first order of business I suggest. Happy Zedding...

Hi Jamie

Looks like a nice car to start your project with, the wheels look very cool.

As Gaz has suggested, get subscribed. You’ll find a nice journal forum to post on to keep us all up to date with the build and read everyone else’s to keep you motivated when the build becomes hard. There’s also a few group buys and club discounts going on back there that might interest you. For £25pa you can’t go wrong.

Good luck,

Chris.

Hi all, I have just purchased my first 300ZX.

I am putting it into my garage as a project for the next year.

Hi Jamie and welcome, so, I see your zed has mot and is usable, my advise, do not put it away till next year, use it, get use of it and get used to it.

I see the words, "my first zed and Project" and my thoughts are immediately NOOOOO !! way too many of these cars that become projects NEVER get finished, and after much money and time the sale add will read " unfinished project, thousands spent "

So my advise would be to use the car now and shake down any issues before getting into that project mentality and just enjoy the ride !!

Jeff
