So I want to start a discussion about the membership base and the dwindling numbers.

I know we have less zeds on the road so the number of people visiting our club forums is decreasing year by year and that is fact.

First I would like to break down the user stats as follows :

Registered Users :- 221 ( user accounts that have not posted in 365 days but have logged in )

Standard Members :- 602 ( user accounts which will need to pay the £1 membership fee after 6 months )

Premium Members :- 152 ( user accounts which have paid the £20 membership fee )

Dormant accounts :- 8467 ( user account that has not been logged into in over 365 days )

First thing I would like to say is thanks to the 152 premium users; without you this club would not exist :thumbup1:

Now for the 602 users what can we do to improve the services so that you will in the future consider subscribing as a Premium User ?

There could be many of you that do not subscribe simply because you don't own a zed; which is fine.

Or

There could be many of you in circumstances beyond control and simply cannot subscribe.

I don't want this to be a fight into the justification of subscribing but rather a positive thread to direct us in getting a better conversion rate.

As the better subscribed user base we have then the more people will take part and feel part of a club.

I really liked your idea of an online magazine, Steve, it’s a shame it didn’t come to fruition.

Mate, I asked several members for some info and bits (I'm very new to the brand remember) to get me started on the first quarter and even though I reminded them...nothing! So again, great ideas being thrown about...just no one to follow them through and to keep it going.

I think part of the issue when compared to other car clubs is it’s run by volunteers, it’s not a buisness. Compare it to say the Capri club that has a HQ, breakers etc etc. We’re just not on that level.

Ah Capri club international. My Dad was a member of that when he had a 3ltr MK1 E. That was a huge club with mahoosive meets everywhere.

Bit of a mad suggestion but how about we have a section for other variations...280, 350, 370 etc...All Zed classes. That might increase us a little.

True BUT there are also other 300zx owners clubs...a little expansion wont hurt...get rid of photoshop and PC gaming section (whatever its called) and you have a bit of free space. Would be useful for the anniversaries that are approaching too.

Your ruthless Steve lol need you on the committee.

Yeh get that partially, volunteers may not have the time to commit even if their efforts are more than expected when they are involved, but I remember a time, like some here when there was like £25k in the club bank account, at that time even club banners were hard to squeeze out of the committee for local events, so guessing those money days are well gone now..

So what are the bank funds like now? can I / we even ask that question?

Still in the black I hope Jeff

Well if not some questions would need answering !! that said the membership fees now will not be a patch on what they were.

Was the £25k money ever invested in anything or left to drip away ? sorry to sound harsh but do wonder..

Jeff

LOL - you may Jeff; we have no secrets here my friend!!

We have about £11k in the account nowadays - and I am long overdue publishing the last few years club accounts, since taking on the treasurer's role...

Years of hosting, paying for shows, competition prizes - combined with dwindling membership and overhauling the whole traders' subs have depleted our funds a little....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

There are some realy great ideas. It got me thinking and some ideas even excited. I think car of the month should be revived from which a calendar should be produced and then sold at a profit to memebrrs and profit to be used to fund the club. Also create a form to apply for use of banners. Most of us do go to random events and could promote the club everywhere other than using them 5 times a year in major shows. Virtual garage is amust and achievemnt badges are a great idea. Also more smaller club meets in multiple locations would be great even if all is paid by owners. Lets admit it a night of hotel and a couple meals will not break anyones bank considering we own zeds.

This. I have been to a few shows where I am the only Zed and having a club banner would be good.

1990 Black MT NA LWB = 2014 - 2020 (Sold)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2015 - 2017 (Stripped & Scrapped)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2017 - 2021 (Sold)

1991 Black MT TT LWB = 2018 - 2021 (Sold)

1989 Red AT TT LWB = 2021 - XXXX (Kept)

It would be good to have this but unless a banner holder takes it to you that would be the only way it would work as postage is to expensive. We have also lost banners when members hold onto them after they leave. :(

Gaz I have an ‘old style’ banner that Si gave me at Simply Jap 2017. Happy to post it to anyone that has need of for a forth coming show.

Interesting thread.

Lots of good ideas, some new ideas, and some suggestions which we have already tried previously or are already in place.

It is great to see that members still have the enthusiasm for the club, but the only way we it will work is with a concerted effort from the many not just the few. Let's use this as a turning point, and show ourselves we all have the commitment. :thumbup1:

Thanks Howard :thumbup1: If anyone still visits Lee Dent can they get the new banner that was sent to him and never used. I have sent him several messages buy he still has it. I hope.

No offence to anyone intended but if you are just talking about the forum itself...its costs pennies to host regardless how big the database is. You don't need 11k in the bank to keep a forum running.
