Well I brought my first 300zx n/a at start of this year, didn't really now rust areas but I liked the colour grey. So here begins I new it needed work after putting it on axle stands the horror showed its self and to be honest it should of never passed an MOT which was a new Mot in Jan 2018 (this was sold to me with MOT). all arb bushes were shot front discs well below wear limit the master cylinder had been leaking for a very long time so refurbished with new seals and de-rusted servo and painted. body wise where the subframe bracket meets cill rust was covered in gum poked hole in with finger. Undid front wing omg rotten. Must of spent a thousand on it already putting stuff right, but I'll try and repair cut weld etc.

Do you thinks it's better to remove rear looks like a repair panel like z Centre one. Remove cill font to rear then remake what's behind.

Has anyone got spare cills or repair panels they would like to sell on?

Thanks in advance Andy.

So looks like it had a panel put on but didn't bother with what's behind as you can see where they cut it out, was on even welded on lip mastic was used even looks like they smeared in silicon grease ffs.

Another reason to never, ever, ever trust or consider an MOT of a car`s condition, the time limited inspection done by a tester on the day can easily see corrosion and other issues over looked and also given that way too many selling garages have "buddies" who do Mot`s other than a legal document to show the police they really are not worth the paper they are printed on as a condition report.

I have hundreds of photo`s of zed`s that came through our workshops from new customers and owner`s with a fresh MOT from the garage next to the selling dealer and it`s shocking how many had overlooked corrosion and worn items , but on the flip side I have also seen many a car with impeccable Mot history and never had any advisories get a fail on stupid items like a number plate light or a wiper blade past its best..... usually from some trumped up Halford`s type of outlet instead of speaking to the owner before failing it, and so spoil / mar a 20 year Mot history of the car ....arghhh !!

If you look at the last 4/5 years of MOT history it can give you a clue, especially if corrosion was mentioned at some point.

Nowadays there are some excellent rust prevention products out there, just have a look at these guys:

Don't forget to take reference measurements before cutting to much away, they'll come in handy when fitting the new metal.

Been making templates of what cut out, I have the inner and outer panels from Z Centre. So not to much to mock up.
