My car has developed a nasty rattle, on the way home from Battlesbridge and visiting GSC.

So it will be off the road for a while while I get some advice on the problem and work out what to do.

This means I will have my vw at the Lakes, Coventry, Simply Japanese, unless some miracle occurs. :(

Might post some video clips tomorrow so we can play "name that tune"

I’m going to go with some of the suggestions on Fb, sounds like a blown exhaust manifold gasket, and as that’s Pre O2 sensor would explain your slight misfire. See if you can get a tube down that gap and have a listen.

Does it sound a full revs or is it fast intermittant

Mine had a blown exhaust gasket sounded like a pop pop pop pop So it wasn't happening on all cylinders, only one

if you revved the engine under load it souded a bit like a hole in the exhaust

Oops - sorry to hear that Craig...

Still, it does not sound like bearing failure to me; that would be more of a loud knock than a rattle. How's the oil pressure?

Fingers crossed it's nothing too major mate - albeit you're making the right decision not to bring the Zed to the Lakes next weekend, unless you've got it fixed beforehand. And yes, I am just saying that, as I don't want to be the only person there sans-Zed...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
