Very proud new owner SWB SLICKTOP MANUAL pearl comming from Japan!

Posted

Like to say a very big thanks to club Importer Garry/GazWoz who made this happen!

She was manufactured in October 96 with 43k on the clock one owner from new!

I'm over the moon with excitement first time ever getting one from an auction in Japan.

The only thing now I have to wait 8 weeks at least for it to land in the UK, then Gary is getting the roof and bonnet resprayed in white to match the rest of the car and getting everything else ready as well with the registration etc for me to pick up.

I'm just looking at ordering a new OEM steering wheel gear knob and a few other interior bits to make it look like brand new. I've got some brand new confetti Recaro seats already that I did not put into my Supra as I sold that last week.

I've all way's wanted a Fairlady Z fresh from JP my plan now with the Z is to make it look like it just rolled out from the assembly line and look after her.

I'll probably drop a twin-turbo lump in her later on in the future 550ps anyone?

This is a great club to be a part of definitely my favourite lots of good advice and friendly enthusiasts.

Looks like you got one in decent shape! Best of luck with it.

On a side note I never heard back about auctions this early in the morning. I guess Gary just gets up earlier than my agent

Congratuations on your purchase and the start of your Z32 adventure! You will be needing a TT front bumper at some stage if

you are going the TT route (respray of roof/bonnet time?). The car has an airbag steering wheel fitted which you could have

retrimmed if you wanted to keep it or go for the pre airbag type.

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

Looks extremely clean! Haha you're missing out on half the fun though, a nissan's not a nissan unless it's held together with filler, cableties and duct-tape. ;-)

With an example like that going OEM is exactly the route to go down and resisting any temptation to modify. I'm sure ZCentre used to sell the red-stitch 99 gearknob, a lot of momo wheels do look somewhat "factory fit" if you weren't happy with the stock one. The S14a nissan steering wheel looks pleasant too and may well fit.

Bride low rails for your recaros tend to cost around 150-200 each shipped (well that was about 10 years ago right enough when I got them for every car I owned, was never that impressed with the quality of the sliders truth be told but was an easy bolt-in solution).

Congrats, hope it's every bit as good as you hope. Generally fresh-imports are in good order. Japanese look after their possessions like they're their first-born.

Congrats on your purchase, the zed looks clean :tt1:

Not sure how you can tell how 'extremely clean' it is from that single grainy low-res image. ;)

His name is s13 Silvia, I don't think there is one of those that isn't made of cardboard so relatively it must be good!

Thank you

Yes the plan is to get the 99 facelift bumper or get an aftermarket one that looks OEM but has the bigger air intake on the front of it I'll put a picture of the one I like. Unfortunately the previous owner has the roof and bonnet in Black which is not to my liking so that will be getting sprayed to match the rest. With regards to the steering wheel I was thinking about a nardi with red stitching? Or new OEM one as I think the owner had a lot of rings on his fingers warn it quite badly lol.

That's basically the look I want to go for with the Z

Mondo of Hide & Seat Interiors is a Trader on here, he's done quite a few steering wheels and gear knobs etc for guys on here, you could just get him to retrim them:thumbup1:

Nice look to build towards. Any idea what the kit or parts are to do that?

looks like a Greddy front with homemade / unkown lip spoiler, Stillen skirts?? and Veilside / Abflug / Bomex / Generic mirrors??

I await to be corrected:thumbup1:

Has a front mount also though :innocent:

No I don't really I'll have to look into it more check the Zed Centre ect but it looks quite similar to your bumper :thumbup1:

Stick with OEM manufacture bumpers, they fit perfectly, they look and feel better and they'll last longer. The Greddy Gracer bumper doesn't suit the lines of the Z32 at all, even worse is the Wings West and Stillen GTZ-R (hideous thing). I would avoid most aftermarket front bumpers as they never have a swage line, never have the right contours for the dropsides and rarely fit properly. It's like they were taken from another car and made to fit.

There are one or two aftermarket manufacturers that make nice front bumpers, Impul and ABFlug ones are nice and some of the TwinZ stuff is nice; their front bumper however is not. I'd stick to something more OEM, but that's my personal choice as I believe these cars look near-perfect as the creators intended.

Avoid fibreglass like the plague.

I did. Another grainy low-res image of the front.

Looking forward to seeing proper pics. I'm sure Gazwoz will get some up once it's at the departure port. :)

I'd stick with OEM too. I do like some other bumpers, such as Abflug or Mission, but you'll never get quite as good fitment.

Up to a TT conversion, I think I'd stick with the bumper you have. Rarely see them!

I quite like the black roof. I'll be selling a steering wheel soon, very good condition.

Hi

Yeah that's the thing I've looked at a few cars that have the black roof with the black tint on the window I think it looks quite colour coordinated so I might leave it but I'm definitely getting the bonnet sprayed white. I still haven't made my mind up 100% yet if I'm going to spray the roof white as well?

Yeah I possibly might be interested in the wheel.

I think I'm leaning towards just getting all of it sprayed white lol

Black roof bars are a really nice thing to do on the Z. I had this done quite a number of years ago although recently refinished as part of an extensive respray.

Yeah your one looks really sweet suits it.

The thing about doing it with a slicktop is it's not obvious it's a slicktop.

Yeah that's a good point well I've got eight weeks to make my mind up lol just looking around now for some bits getting at 99 bumper sorted out with the 99 rear lights etc etc

Take a look at this slicktop for ideas. It has a black painted top. '99 spec front bumper and '99 spec rear lights. It also has the

TwinZ Type 1 rear spoiler which runs a second to the best one (IMO) that being the OEM '89 spec.
