I read this yesterday and thought it was ridiculous. A big part of F1 is the glitz and glamour. It's literally being stripped of its assets.

Probably pissed off. As you say they aren’t slaves and I bet they got more money and had more fun in the sun doing that,

What you guys did to gain a bit more attention on “our” stand is up to you and you conscious. Personally after the 3 visits to the toilet I was able to tolerate it and next year I won’t be show shocked! :scared:

If they didn’t want to do it they wouldn’t do it... it’s a choice to be a promo girl not an exploitative act. No one grabbed them by the hair screaming. I have no reason to doubt that it was voted out but who drove that vote and for what purpose? What’s the difference between a grid girl or any other model, should we ban the catwalk models? I’d have no issue if they employed male as well as female grid people, instead a hammer approach has been taken... it’s just an overreaction in my opinion. Would the driving force be so determined if these girls were average looking and wearing baggy clothes?

My reference to leftists was not this particular issue but a plethora of things on going at the moment. As another example the vegan activists who have been asulting farmers. They have an opinion which they are entitled to, however they exclaim themselves as the centre ground. Vegans represent less than 3% of the population and I doubt the majority think this action is valid. There are minorities of people out there with very strong opinions that are pushing the centre ground very hard, presenting opinions as facts. Sadly he or indeed she who shouts loudest, regardless of validity is heard.

The real scandal is that that many men thought it was acceptable. If that's not, in part at least, a legacy of how women have been treated and presented throughout the men's lifetimes then where else did it come from?

 

Here's alternative question: say F1 had instead announced that they wanted to attract a larger female audience, and was going to achieve that by having muscular men in hotpants parade up and down the pitlane, be the focus of camera shots from the pitlane, form a corridor and applaud the drivers heading onto the podium, and then stand around to get sprayed with champagne afterwards, what do you honestly think the reaction would be?

 

"Why should we have to look at that?"

"I feel uncomfortable looking at them"

"I wouldn't mind as much if they were dressed appropriately"

"How is this going to attract women to F1"

Even possibly "How is this appropriate for children?"

Etc etc

So why should women watching F1 have to put up with the reverse? Because they are historically subservient to men...

I respect your opinion where we differ though is that I believe the former is more appropriate. Let’s not forget, quite a few women have just lost pretty lucrative jobs.

Out of your proposed responses, I think most would plumb for the “how will this attract women fans” option. The whole thing is about glamour and advertising, expensive suits and watches, posh frocks etc.

Well I think the end result of this is you'll now see pretty much no female involvement in F1 whatsoever. Yay equality!

Just watching Premier League darts and the walk out flimsy top girls have gone, as they said before F1 said anything, but we do still have 4 pom pom girls on stage, of course tight little shorts and crop tops.

 

Wonder if we'll see pit girls then - only in another guise, which, call me a cynic the recent 'no girls' then is just a topical publicity stunt cum hat off to the pc folk.
