Was a shame Si could not attend, and unfortunately the notice was just too short for the members that I approached.

I went back to the voting thread and worked my way down the results list PM'ing the members until there was only me left.

Unfortunately, we just did not organise a hot standby from the results. Lesson for next year.

As I was attending the show anyway, it was fine for me to bring the car, albeit completely unprepped.

I am glad my car scrubbed up well enough to be presented, thanks to the bit of Joel magic, and my make shift wash routine that had Joel cowering and whimpering in the corner.. But all ended well, especially when we managed to obtain power for the polisher from the Figaro stand

Thanks for standing in Craig your Z looked great mate and I know Si is very disappointed in missing it.

An absolutely indescribable experience, I can’t thank everyone enough for the votes that gave me the opportunity to exhibit the car on what feels like a world stage, pretty much a pinnacle of all shows.

It was a pleasure meeting all the club members that visited the stand and thanks to everyone that gave their support over the weekend. Gutted that Simon didn’t make it as my right hand man for the weekend and it must be awful for him to miss out on the show knowing how utterly superb his Z is looking, but it was great to get Craig’s car looking mighty fine and doing the stand proud.

I met so many amazing people, I had a blast from the past with a friend of Howard’s (made my day that [emoji106]) and to top it all off I got to share the experience with a very close friend of mine who was exhibiting a ‘69 Mach1 Mustang [emoji41]

The drive home was awesome, I had a big smile on my face the whole trip home still buzzing from the show and reinforced with 16psi of boost, the car feels unreal, what a machine! So glad to have forged more memories with what I consider a very special Z as part of a great club.

Thanks everyone.

You did us proud yet again JP :thumbup1: Awesome mate.

Joel, why do you never seem to take your roof off??

What horrors are you hiding under there....?

I simply prefer the look of the car with the targas installed, I like the unbroken line of red being carried over to the tailgate. I very rarely remove my targas if I’m honest, normally only when the kids are in it with me as they love it with the open sky! Plus the fact that my boot was full!

So gutted that I could not attend this years guys, unfortunately ill health has prevailed yet again.

Well done everyone.

Dave, I’m gutted to hear that health issues are troubling you again, I noticed you had been quiet lately and it was a shame not to see you at the show, as Craig said you were missed and I wish you the very best of health my friend.

Must admit I am the opposite, any chance I get the targa's are off.

There were a number of clubs that were knocked back apparently, and also a few that only got allocated at the last minute like us.

There was less hall space as well this year, as the pavilion was not being used.

Joel and I had a discussion about this, and also discussed it with the Supra guys as well.

One of the application questions relates to the number of paying members, but I think some of the clubs maybe enter the number of registered members, not necessarily if they pay subscriptions etc.

Or maybe those clubs genuinely do have more paying members than us.

So if there are more 'members', the organisers possibly give a bit more space because they expect more members to turn up, as more members to buy the discounted tickets.

So on the next application form, I think we will use the number of registered members not subscribed members, and see where that gets us.

The Supra guys are hoping for a larger stand next year for their 25th anniversary.

I was discussing this with the organiser of the Supra club stand, apparently the event organiser for this particular event (Alison is it?) was put in a tricky situation when she was informed late on that the pavilion had been sold on a lease for 25years and that they could no longer use it for this show! It does explain why so many clubs got knocked back and Due to the downscaling of space available I consider us very lucky to get the stand we did. I guess this pattern will continue into the following years unless the can secure more space.

If you ask me, the hall which houses predominantly club stands (of which we have always been in) is probably the most interesting of all the halls at the show and it’s great to see the different efforts from various clubs on how they present and sell themselves. Plenty more ideas generated for future improvements for us as a club and the cogs are already turning in my head!

Cracking stuff, both cars look fantastic.

One curiousity Joel, what’s with the not for sale hashtag that I’ve seen you use here and your FB posts?

Great to meet you guys. It was a real surprise to see you there. It has inspired me to sort my Z out after seeing how stunning yours were!

It seems that every year, the odd person comes onto the stand and tries to tempt me with a “genuine on the spot offer”! This year a chap (who actually checks out to be a fairly successful businessman!), came on and offered me 20k for the car. Last year I think the highest was 16 so the values are going up

Apparently I have until Christmas to decide but as I told the guy, it’s not for sale.

Nice to meet you Clint and your reaction when you bumped into the stand completely oblivious to our presence was priceless! Look forward to seeing the progress of your Zed(s) [emoji41]

did you notice that me and the Stig did not appear on the stand at the same time, he only appeared on the day that i could not attend the show until the end....

[emoji848] he’s about your height too.

You finally decided to remove all that excessive (and very heavy) sound deadening!

Negative, I just wanted to reconnect my tweeter following the omission of that particular step when replacing the door handle! The drive to the NEC was like I was deaf in one ear so I wanted to make the drive home more balanced!

Not another Ugandan businessman this year, was it...?

I'd agree with that! Spent the best part of 4 hours alone in "our" hall. I was disappointed (but not suprised) at how much space was give to the Sunday market traders. Guess they must be paying a fair bit for their stand though. :whistling:

well, I just got home. broke down 10 minutes from home at 11.45 on the A3 fuel pump disintegrated (land rover , not Z) . AA have finally recovered me. I was going to post a picture but it was too dark. I'm a bit cold now after my 11 hour journey

Ouch - sorry to hear that Ian - I hope you get it sorted mate...

I too second Joel's comments; on behalf of the club, thank you so much for giving up your time to help man the stand; it's certainly appreciated Ian!

All the best,

Richard:thumbup:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
