Hi All,

I swapped my 92 JDM spec indicator lenses for some that have a sidelight& indicator present a while ago (at the time I thought they were UK spec but I know better know!) So basically took the feed from the sidelight in the foglamps and rerouted to the new sidelights next to the indicators 'cos I think lights on the corner of a car look better than in where the fog lamps are.

Anyway long story short I now need to replace my RHS one as it got smashed in a little incident my friend had whilst driving on track. I am struggling to find a replacement. Which Z did these come on as standard? Are they Series3+?

Help much appreciated!!

I think they were standard on the US spec mate.....

......As you say, UK/EU spec have blank corners; and J-spec only have indicators in the corner lights. Your best option - other than importing from the USA - is to drill out the little blank lights in a J-spec so you can retro fit a side light in there.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

If I remember correctly, on some cars, when you turn the indicator on, that bulb will also light up to illuminate the direction you are turning. As Richard said, just drill a hole and fit them in a matching lens version.

The corner lights in my car light up with the indicator on that side when the headlights are switched on. They aren't sidelights though they are very bright 21w turning lights to light up the corner as you turn.

You could however re wire with a 5w bulb for permanent use if desired.

Both?

Yup, fogs have the original sidelights in and I've lit the sides too

This factory setup also uses a different indicator stalk.

Brilliant info, thanks for all the replies. I suspected US spec when I struggled to find a replacement outside of the US lol. I always knew they were a bit bright for side lights, but I kinda liked them like that. I'll have to do as suggested and swap to JDM's and drill the blank.

Series 4 jdm corner lights have the bulb holder already in. If you want them dimmer just use a lower wattage bulb.

My indicators did this (stayed on permanently, until indicator stalk was used and then they would flash in the correct direction) and the MOT tester failed it as:

Nearside Front position lamp(s) incorrect colour (1.1.A.3e)

Offside Front position lamp(s) incorrect colour (1.1.A.3e)

I had to re-wired them so they weren't orange all the time and he passed it

Thats because you were using one bulb to do two jobs (posistion light and indicator) coopd's has seperate indicators and posistion lamps so is perfectly acceptable.

The failure you should have received was "posistion lamp affected by the operation of another lamp" .

Plus, if your fogs still illuminate as the posistion lamp it doesnt matter what colour the other posistion lamps are. They are not testable therefore cannot be failed.

Yellow posistion lamps are acceptable if within a yellow headlamp.

As Chris said, mine light separately. Had it MOT'd twice since with no issues.

I do like the orange sides :)
