Hello all,

I brought the black 10000 mile ZX from Gazwoz a few months back.

I've been gingerly using him as a daily driver since the purchase, and a few small problems aside its been an epic ride. Im taking him off the road shortly to have James at Powerzed drop the engine and fix an oil leak and a few bits and bobs, and also to have Poly bushes put on. Then he's going in to have the rear spoiler removed, boot lid resprayed and a fibre glass wing put on as the old one is bubbling, and i heard if its bubbling, get it off quick as rust will chew through the lid in no time, James also mentioned Hens teeth when he advised me to get it removed.

Im also having the underside sprayed with epoxy and 3M to seal in the original un-rusted goodness at the same time. This is a completely original car with very little miles and it feels tight and i'm very happy.

I must say a big thank you to Gazwoz for sourcing it and making the sale a breeze. Also a massive thanks to James at PowerZed who gave it a thorough once over and did a bit of fettling with the PC and vouched for its authenticity.

So thats me, just saying hello and hopefully meet some of you at the Ace Cafe meet on the 28th October. I usually head to the Ace on bike nights with my lady, so this will be new for me.

Cheers

Dave

Welcome!

If you're able to, try and get yourself a new genuine original. They are still available and can be sealed from behind to stop the blistering from occurring further on down the line. The fibreglass ones don't fit very well and don't have the finish the original one does.

Thanks.

Ive been looking for one since I saw James a while back. Will keep looking!

You'll need to order one through Nissan or allcarpartsfast.co.uk Let me know if you need the part number.

I bought a brand new one last year and had it fitted earlier in the year. Definitely worth it in terms of fit and finish.

Best advice, I’ve been winging it and went for the fibre glass option as it’s all I could find. Also think we may have the only car Haynes haven’t made a manual for. I’m just not used to this, but enjoying the journey. Thanks again, and will get it ordered.

If you get a Nissan rubber one you can always resell the fiberglass one here. You have a SWB 300zx but I think the LWB rear spoiler will fit as I have a LWB spoiler on my SWB. Just don't tell Nissan its a Jap import SWB or they will tell you they don't have one.

Not the case anymore, they're happy to search through non domestic parts on their system as they have a direct link.

Welcome to the club Dave, look forward to meeting you and your fine looking machine. Your car will be in safe hands with James so you made a great decision there, but I have to mirror the sentiments of the others here about sourcing an OEM and moving on your FG copy.

Out of curiosity, why are you looking to poly bush the car? Although they can sharpen up the handling nicely, they will also sharpen up the noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and dull down that luxury feel that Nissan designed into it. Poly bushes, especially on the rear axle, tend to make the ride crashy, especially when paired up with lowered suspension and aftermarket wheels with lower profile tyres.

Nevertheless, you probably have the lowest mileage car in the club, in the country and probably in the top (bottom?) 5 in the world! [emoji41]

Dave, you finally made it on here. welcome mate.

I thought you had forgotten all about joining. Glad you are loving the ride still, have you let your lady drive it yet? I know the answer to that I think!

All the best my friend and a warm welcome to the club

Just got back from a work trip to Reading. So technically I just got paid for driving my zed for 3 hours :)

James at Powerzed advised to Poly Bush some of the front end as they are harder wearing, so not all will be Poly Bushed. So just going with his advice really.

I already have 18000 Kms on the clock! So need to slow it down a bit or will have the highest mileage.

She drove it for 2.3 miles. I had my eyes closed for some of it. But all in all she smashed it while I was pooping it!! Hope the dogs are well [emoji16]

Welcome to the club,

I've a brand new 89 spec spoiler in my warehouse... Hehe. Customer pulled out of buying it.

I’m up for a slice of that! How much is it?

That was brave of you Dave.

One of the dogs has just cost me £900 for ingrowing eyelashes. Had to have an operation to cut them out. So glad I have insurance

Did you see the white 300zx you nearly got is still for sale?

Sounds painful! Hope she’s ok.

Yes I saw that with the white one. It was a lovely car, but as I said. It just didn’t pull as much as I thought it should. Also it was very basic and tatty in places and for that price it needed to be a lot cheaper after seeing your one. Think I made the right decision!

Si, if you have the part number to hand that would be great buddy - no worries if not.

I didn't realise Nissan still sold them, my fibreglass effort has started trying to leave the car so was wanting to replace it soon rather than have it rebonded & sprayed.
