Hi guys

Back in the day (don't ask how many "days" ago this was :wheelchair:) I used to organise rolling road sessions for car clubs that I used to be part of. I was wondering if there might be any demand for something like that here? I used to go to http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk/, we'd get 6-8 of us together for a morning meet, test the engines then drive off to a nice pub for a bite and bragging session.:clap:Not looking to do this until mid to late October, cars with Jim getting some TLC.

If you're interested post you name up and once I have rough numbers I'll see if we can get a morning slot a possible discount.

Cheers,

Chris.

If I still own my zed by then I’d be up for it. Weekend though.

But you will still own the z by then.

Why would you sell it

For me it would have to be before 16th April for me to make it.

I can work with that mate.:thumbup1:

Because selling it would pay my solicitors bill and leave me with one less thing to sort out. I’m gearing upto some stressful stuff.

Imo in an uncompleted state you really aren't going to get very much at all compared to if its finished.

Oh I could get it back sorted in a day/weekend. Only a few things to sort;

Bleed the brakes

Dress the rear bumper tab

Install an expansion tank

Refit the wheels

&

Fix the electrical fault thats stopping the blower working.

I just haven’t had the interest. I’ve just had enough of spanner’s and screwdrivers atm.

I'm happy to come watch and go to the pub. mine went on the rollers there about 10 years ago, so doesn't need to again :)

The only way to avoid bresking the car is to never use it Jeff, even driving like miss daisy could be the coffin nail. I hear your concerns but there’s little difference between giving it death on a deserted A road to on a RR other than someone, who hopefully knows what they are doing is monitoring things.

I had mine on the rollers the year before last. Partly for curiosity but mostly because I wanted to set up the boost controller up in a controlled environment where AFRs could be monitored. It allowed us to turn the boost up run after run without pulling over. It was all very safe and useful tbh.

Ok some valid points for you of course not in general though, road driving however brisk is not the same, take it from the guys that use these RR`s every day

I am talking about power runs of course, turn up, on the rollers and off, not a mapping or setting up session which is a different thing along with the power run print off which is best summed up in their own words>>

"at the end of the day peak power and torque figures are all pub talk and mean very little in real world conditions"

Peak figures don’t give you any indication of drivability or even a true indication of increased performance as they ignore the power/torque curve and can’t tell you how smooth, powerful and efficient the power is delivered. This is what makes a car more drivable and thus more enjoyable.

"When Revo and our dealers set vehicles up on the road, we are data logging and feeling how to car drives to get the most from it for you the driver, not just trying to chase a peak number"

Exactly ! and this how you get a well sorted motor for the road, after all that is were it used not inside a garage with a fan pointed at it.

Jeff.

Any recommendations for a place to go after?

Don't forget ash, running or not. Me running is depending on if we have a zed in Surrey at the time.

I’ll pop along. Whether I’m in my Z I don’t know....

I know plenty of place afterwards depends how far you want to travel. Crown And Cushion is nice

Furthermore, I can recommend another venue if you don’t fancy SRR.

I’m friends with the owners and this is where My Z has been mapped

I'm still in Wales on the 7th getting the red zeds bodywork finished off and collecting parts again.

Is 12-14th good for anyone?

Isn't rolling road so Fast & Furious ?

Not wishing to be a bore or anti it but Jeff raises some valid points.

Also a lot of members are going OEM & it bares no reflection on sale value.

& would I as a buyer want to buy a car rammed up to breaking point?

All who are going have a good day watching your Z going ( nowhere ?)

Have a good day all. No mishaps fingers X

Not really. In my opinion its a validation of all the mods you've put on the car and performance modifcations. Also brings people down to earth thinking with an exhaust and intake their car will put down 300whp+ on a 30 year old car, where in reality it will not.

Your engine is completely stock so I can see it will not attract you.

Driving to breaking point is way too exaggerated, it's just accelerating the car under load. Indeed it will also act like a health check and help people like us find issues and perhaps correct them to get a properly running car again.

JoelyP you would think of as OEM+, but he is actually on a forged engine with a plethora of performance modifications which we will see how they do.

Also for any new members asking how they can reach xxxhp, we can say this person reached it with these modifcations. Power is part of the fun and not just to be viewn as stuff only fast and furious people do.

Edited by Alic

That's right & you have some valid points.

However if you upgrade X & y do you not end up with z?

Don't the modifications carried out on a car give the owner an idea of the output?

How do manifacturers work out the cars output?

Also there are other ways of checking the engines health.

Having said that if that's what owners want fair enough.
