That whole advert is *****cks. They aren't genuine dials and it looks like an error was made in the registration. He's had it 17 years in the UK and I'd imagine it was registered by accident as a new vehicle as that would have put it right in the beginning of the boom years for Japan imports.

Not sure what makes you think it isn't a Genuine 99-spec front bumper Tony!?

Who knows, it could be a 99 spec car.

Those sill returns are crumpled to hell, it's an auto and there's a question mark on its authenticity.

It's difficult to tell without a VIN and more detailed photos.

ok I'll concede the bumper but looking closelt it doesn't loog like and AirBag steering wheel

We had a look at this about a year(?) Back, still the same photos.

It could be a 99 spec sure but it needs all the tacky stuff put back to stock.

They look exactly like the ones in both Ian Greenfield's and Dutchgold's cars, Si - albeit with an "MPH" legend stuck on.

They are genuine dials. It's got some questionable bits but based on the presence of the UV cut sticker I seriously doubt it's an imposter.

I was always under the impression that they got rid of the boost gauge on the later spec cars?

Also the zenon headlights don't seem genuine going by that light output

Make`s me chuckle how a late registered car gets us all excited, but it is still 17 + year old, looking at the pictures there is more correct than not, in fact only the turbo gauge is the puzzle as that was deleted from some of ones earlier than that.

The engine bay confirms the later parts such as later plenum, later throttle spindle, later brake master cylinder, electric Hicas, later untreated balancer bar, later tps, the series II ptu came in earlier but in association with the later tps and throttle spindle all adds credence to its declared age.

The MOT history does show its done low mileage over the years ( around 10 k ) but has not been maintained too well, as the same advisories repeat each year...sure sign of been run on a budget.

2010 low front tyre tread,

2011 warning for both front and rear tyre`s tread low

2012 same warning

2013 fail on the tyres ??

2013 to 2016 warning in front number plate deteriorated

2015 brake pipes corroded

2016 Front chassis corrosion

2016 Both rear inner corrosion

2016 Sub-frame corroded

2017 O/s/f and n/s/f chassis starting to corrode

2017 Rear suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive both sides inner sills

2017 Rear sub-frame corroded

2017 Offside front lower suspension arm corroded

Nothing horrendous hopefully but reminds us again its a 17 + year old car, I would go as far to say I think it is 100 genuine, needs some work underneath but to be expected due to age, price needs to be negotiated down somewhat though.

I'll conceded on the dials. I was convinced the 'Z' on the speedo display wasn't on original ones.

ah ha i had to crank up the old computer to be able to see on a big screen other than my phone. now i can see the hids are not even on in the pictures anyway.

back in my rat infested hole i go.

Personally the later HID were not great despite the huge cost, I fitted 99 spec units years ago to mine and they were not as good as my old normal headlights with xenon kit fitted, you can image how miffed I was at the time, was a truck load of cash! The headlight design on the later units was strange with a hump separating the low and high beam, but it cause a tunnel effect on the xenon and the effective beam spread... very odd and bad design.

My custom reflective headlights attracted some negatives 15 year ago but with Xenon kit was awesome ( Pic 1 )

The 99 spec I fitted later ( pic 2 ) you can make out the beam separation that cause the problem

for me the 98-00 brake master cylinder tells me its a genuine 2000 spec those bmc were only avaiable to the very last z32 models then theres the xenon headlights, instrument cluster, front bar and tail lights.

Id beg to differ on the xenon headlights jeff zebedees are waaaaay better than the stock earlier ones or hid conversions. Zeb lights the road up like a modern car.

Having driven your car prior to your ownership many time and some at night I know my original headlights with custom chrome inserts and 6000k xenon kit had a wider spread down the lanes to my house, think I have a photo somewhere..

This is most definitely a late model z. I went to see it, as its just down the road from me. The original owner went to japan and imported it himself, and it was sold on to the current owner in May I believe. He called me up and asked if I would be interested in selling it for him. I checked the vin as I wanted to be sure, and it was made in 1999. The bloke who went to Japan bought it in 2000, hence why it is listed as a 2000 model. I wasnt sure why the spoiler was the older one, and, the bodywork needed some TLC, but what stopped me saying yes, was the condition of the engine bay, where most of the connections had rust on them. I believe since then the car has been through a body shop and the engine has been cleaned a little. Personally I think it would sell at £5995. just not as tidy as it could be. Its not a bad car, although the guy that bought my black SWB also went to see it and said it wasn't pulling like he thought it should and couldn't believe the difference when he got into mine.

Which seats did it have?

It's a shame that the skirts are absent as they're a very distinctive part of the facelift model and seldom come up for sale.

That said, if someone had a parts catalogue for a MY99 car and found the part number for them, we may find a few sets lurking about in warehouses somewhere!

It's probably version S trim, so no skirts and optionally no spoiler. The skirts are easy to find if you can manage to ship them.
