I'm after a bit of help. I bought some brembos which were believed to be R33 GTR but a believe they might be from something else as they look slightly different. Could be from a R34 or something maybe. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows.

The reasons I'm asking:

-I think they look slightly different.

-The larger of the piston dust which seem consistent with info i find online dust covers didn't fit (about 1-2mm too big for the bit they fit into.

I want to know if they'll fit before I waste time, but I'm struggling to find the distance between the brake caliper location bolts.

Any help would be brilliant:

R34GTR Brembos are the same. A lot of pistons in the Brembo range from that style are shared and as such use the same size seal.

Where did you get the seal kit from?

The picture showing your vernier measuring the external dimension would be better placed using the internal legs that are pointing upwards. Once you have this overall dimension, measure one of the mountng holes and deduct this from your original size.

This will be your hole centres.

The seal kit came with the calipers, but the larger ones were slightly too big. Sent them off to a brake place to match up some new dust seals but I didn't get the sizes

Ah, sorry mate.

I have a spare set of cast front callipers, I'll measure them if you want.

If that is of help.

you can use a 350z brembo rebuild kit for r33/r34 gtr calipers.

Nissan partnumber for the 350z kit is 41120-12U25

contains all seals, dustboots, etc.

this picture shows all the separate parts (and partnumbers) in the kit:

brembo_350zrebuild.jpg

partnumber for the R33 GTR is AY600-NS057, but may be harder to get. (and probably a lot more expensive)

Thanks mate. This is more of a question of whether these actually are gtr brakes. I'm not convinced they are to be honest

Just get them from bigredd, no need to go to Nissan.

Here are photos of mine for comparison. Not sure what else to tell you really other than it looks like you've have been refurbished and a different sized logo was fitted.

....ah! They do look different actually. Mine have a raised ridge running down the face of them and I know mine are R33GTR Brembos as I saw the car they came off.

This is my point. They look slightly different so I'm wandering if there was a couple of different calipers

Brembo make calipers, they make a selection of them with different piston variations and bodies to accommodate. Essentially a 4 pot with x diameter pistons will be the same body. The legs then vary to accommodate the fitment. This is why the seals and pads are so interchangeable. From a quick picture they will all look the same.

All you need to know is if the lugs are spaced correctly, i.e. Share the same hole centres and the intended disc spec. What where they sold to you as and did you get the discs?

Thanks mate. This is why I was asking if anyone knew the correct hole distance for our cars.

Here's the for sale item. No disks or pads, didn't really need them as I have some brand new gtr disks and pads in the shed which I bought for the black car which has gtr brembos (it's not back yet though).

front caliper mount/bolt spacing for many Nissan models (eg. z32/z33/r32/r33/r34/s14/s15) is 100 mm

looks like on your calipers it shows to be around 81 mm, so I don't think that is a R33 caliper

Right, they probably are what they are supposed to be. Only way your going to know is offer them up. Even if the hole centres match you need to see the disc offset is correct, iirc z33 vs R33 there's a 5mm offset difference in the disc.

That's quite a discrepancy.

If they were purchased through eBay as it appears at least he can get his money back, if they aren't what he paid for.

Just to give an update.

The item was bought through ebay as such, but after the listing finished and paid as gift - So I made a balls up there!!! I did contact the seller who, if I'm honest, didn't seem to know they weren't what they were advertised but he wouldn't give me money back sadly. He basically bought them as spares for his own car so I do believe that he wasn't aware but if it was me, I'd have sorted the matter out hands down and given a refund upon taking the calipers back. But I'm good like that and don't think I could live with thinking I'd ripped someone off, regardless of whether it was an honest mistake which I believe this was.

Anyway, it turns out that these are Peugeot 406 V6 Coupe front brakes. Shame that I'd bought new pistons and dust covers and that. Hey Ho!
