1989 Factory manual TT SWB!!

It's missing a few bits and has some rust, also has a "Noddy and Big Ears" themed engine bay:scared::thumbdown:

IMG_5425.jpg

Was running before it had its gearbox, diff, drive shafts, brakes and exhaust stripped off it:whistling:

Needs a bonnet, new trims, and some paint and bodywork, but it'll be a work in progress.

Have to wait and see how I get on, figured I have a fair few spare bits from the other car lying around, so might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb!! :thumbup1:probably struggle with it but at least it'll keep me occupied for a bit:thumbup:

Assuming you have the parts, doesn't sound terribly bad to get it working

Good little side project

Good luck with the new project Richie you cant go wrong with a red swb TT :) Where did it come from mate?

First imported and registered in Luton in 2002, Mot'd till '07. Cat C insurance write off due to being uneconomical to repair (Engine damage) in March '08:yes:

Sure aren't they all uneconomical to

Solid enough everywhere except the sills, has the space saver spare, full head gasket kit and Viton valve stem seals sitting in the boot:thumbup1:

The guy hooked up a power pack to let the window down and something sparked near the bottom of the engine ( probably the starter motor as it's disconnected from the gearbox) and I can't get the windows up??

  • Author

Windows now fully closed, the starter was cable tied to the earth which was connected to thin air!! :innocent:

IMG_5454.jpg

When I connected the battery, they went up no problem but the lights etc remained on even after switching everything off:confused1::confused1:

There is a switch on the inside of the headlight pod that was illuminated, nothing worked until I turned that off:scared: hardly a dead switch??

Away from the car at the minute, but will take you up on that Andrew :thumbup1:

Pulled all the dirt and junk out of it and will be giving it a hoover and steam, the passenger window had been down an inch since God knows when, as it's got moss and grass growing on the passenger seat:scared:

It was drying out quickly in the sunshine so should be able to clean it up fairly quickly, checked under the carpets which appear to be dry:thumbup1:

Had a root around the car this evening, spoiler was your usual rubber sponge full of water :scared:

Was half expecting the bootlid to be a rusted mess when I saw all the roots growing in it

Pulled the passenger carpet back at the ECU small patch of damp presumably from the water dripping over time but the seats and carpet are all dry now:thumbup:

IMG_5488.jpg

Sprayed some air freshener on the seats so there's a damp patch from it :thumbup1:

Could be an overlay that speedo.

Ah ok, thanks Stephen, hadn't seen one like it before, it'll be getting swapped out for one of my UK spec ones anyway :thumbup1:

Had an hour free yesterday, so removed the 2 nuts holding on the rear wheels and swapped them out for ones that had air in their tires:scared:

Car is sitting high as there's no running gear in it for the foreseeable future:whistling:

Test fitted my other Brembo 6 piston setup to see if the Veilside wheels clear, they do, just. I'm going to have to run hubcentric spacers as my offset is +36 which brings the spokes into contact with the caliper, if I add a 25mm spacer, am I correct in saying my offset is now +11?

Decidedly to leave the Veilside wheel on it for the moment.

Correct ET11, looks lovely with those rims on [emoji41]

Thanks Joel, it's a long way off lovely at the moment, old Blue has to be finished first, my daughter Caitlyn told me that Jo said, that if she had to keep looking at that on the drive, she'd put a match to it!!:scared::lol:

The Andrews have really grown on me. I'm starting to lust over something period like that for mine.

I'll get the centre on it during the week Stephen:thumbup:. I'm sending one of the centre's off to be duplicated but reversed, so it sits flush with the spokes:thumbup1:

So today I went at the leaking boot lid, reckoned its from the wiper grommet so have removed it and taped up the hole (for the time being)

Started to try and freshen up the paintwork.

The bonnet is banjaxed, both corners bent up and paint totally fubar'd.
