I have my old purple painted rocker covers from my previous build which I was planning

on doing a transplant onto the new engine.

However not wanting to taint the new engine I was thinking of stripping and using the covers

that came with the engine.

One of the things that came up is to blast them or not as I've been told that the inner baffles

can get the sand in them and its hard to get out.

The previous zed was done like this but I don't want this new engine busted too.

I have the blasting cabinet in my yard and its easy enough to use but should I ?

I've could also blast it with soda but that's expensive and can take three times as long.

Anybody else have experience with blasting there own covers or other engine parts ?

Tape it up so only the outside surfaces you want to clean are visible and be careful blasting.

Use a jetwasher to clean and compressed air to blow out the nooks and crannies

De-grease them and Soda blast them instead. Takes a little longer, but you won't get any damage as the soda is a fine powder that dissolves.

had mine done with soda blasting and as si mentioned is easier to clean away, all the underside was packed with silver foil to stop any bits getting in but a thorough clean and air blast sorted mine.
