Ok, here's a question: if I were to sell my Zed, would it be worth more in its present trim, or if I returned it back to standard spec...?

 

By "standard spec," I mean a stock interior, wheels and brakes. The exhaust would be far too much of a chew on to change back, so that would stay on the car.

 

Opinions please...

I don't think that there are that many collectors looking for mint stock cars at the moment, and your interior is outstanding so i would leave it as the spec it is... and NOT sell it :lol:

I think personally that a subtly modified car that hasn't taken too much away from the original will be worth more. Obviously it's all subjective but I don't think we're anywhere near the realms of non standard wheels and steep hurting resale values. If on the other hand you've gone silly and fitted a full fibreglass body kit, painted it flip pink/purple with crazy interior with ice install then your market and subsequently your value will suffer.

I would value yours higher than a bone stock car in similar condition. Your mods haven't taken anything from the car merely added to it. Certainly apply the logic to American cars and so called "super muscle" cars are worth big money esp if the right parts and tuner are involved.

new member here purchased the most original un messed with z last week only 2 owners uk model serviced over 30 times since 1992 original paint shining like new as it has always been garaged ,thinking of changing oil pump would anyone recommend a particular pump or make or should i stick to Nissan pump ?

Oil pumps aren't known to fail on this engine so I'd stick with the Nissan one.

Oil pumps aren't known to fail on this engine so I'd stick with the Nissan one.

I'd leave it as is, think it's done right, engine is modified anyway isn't it? So can't ever be truly stock. And the time and effort needed to bring it close to OEM would surely out way any gains even if there were any...

tastefully modified/improved upon cars I reckon will be worth more to the right buyer. It is not like there is demand for these to be concourse condition... It isn't a 240Z. Perhaps in 20 years but I think for now engine and subtle and tasteful mods are worthwhile to bring the look of the car out of the 90s. but I agree that fiberglass body etc would definitely reduce value pretty quickly, as does anything "drift inspired".
