Whilst I am not the biggest fan of Christmas, I do like the day itself, despite being at 36,000ft for half the of the big day, I will get to enjoy some Texas BBQ on arrival! Anyone doing anything other than the norm?

If Christmas wasn't such a 4 month commercial nightmare, I'd really enjoy it, after hearing 2 months of Slade 'Merry Christmas', it's enough to send even the most tolerant of evangelists to the loony asylum. I took a flight back from the US at the end of October and Heathrow already had its Christmas trees up...I mean WTF!? I am not in the least bit religious either, so it really is just the day to spend with family or friends, something I do a lot anyway....? My house has no decorations up other than cards as I'm not going to be here and I don't have a wife and kids.....and I just can't be arsed to stick up a dead tree in the house and glue tat to it.

Things I love about Christmas:

*2 weeks off - time to tinker with the car, eat chocolate, bum around, see friends (yes, I do have some) and tinker with the car some more

*Giving presents :D

*Work Christmas Party :D

*Christmas Day itself :D

Things I dislike about Christmas:

*The tedious 4 month prelude

*Christmas music from the likes of 'Now That's What I Call Xmas'

*Sprouts :hurl:

*Christmas Cake :hurl:

*Christmas Pudding :hurl:

*Minced Pies :hurl:

*Carols

*The weather (if I'm in the UK)

*Christmas shopping (I do it ALL online now anyway, so this is redundant to a point)

*The roads - every man and his dog comes out and many people on the motorway who only drive on it once a year - terrible!

Finnish work on friday night although ive let my slaves finnish earlier this week (i do have a heart)...couple of days of welding, light fabrication and telling the wife how much i love her while i get buckets of fresh coffee fired into my workshop. Then next week back to work and get on with trying to finnish a massive massive roof contract before the begining of April while trying inbetween to grab a few days in Iceland and back over to Sweden with the possibilty of buying a summer lodge where no humans walk hopefully:yes:. Christmas i love it !!!

You planning on renting this summer house out Bri? ;-). Want to take the camper van over when the kids are a bit older, do Norway too, off to Denmark in March. Anyway, I normally do Christmas dinner for the family but with 2 kids under 3 we thought it'd be easier to go to my mums. Will be great with the kids though especially now one of them is old enough to sort of understand Christmas.

Mondo's Christmas:

Tomorrow (Christmas Eve): work. Probably right up to the moment that fat bloke tries to force his way down our chimney.

Christmas Day: Get up. Walk and feed the dogs. Exchange presents with Mrs M. Pack things up and head over to her parents' house to eat too much, drink too much and generally try to double my body weight!

Boxing Day: Me and Liam Neeson (her dad - the resemblance is uncanny!) will get up and walk our collective three dogs, then it's back to theirs again for yet more food and drink. I'll no doubt end the night in a double bed with Mrs M and our two dogs... and I'll be trying to sleep on an inch of mattress!

Tuesday: Walk the dogs, pack everything up and come home. Then straight back to work!

My dad lives in Somerset so I never see him over Christmas. Luckily, her parents are more than happy to have the Family Mondo at their house for a couple of days. :) I normally want to get home on Boxing Day morning, but her folks always petition us to stay another night.

Like Groover, I'm not feeling particularly festive this year... I think it's down to all the stress and deadlines of the last couple of weeks. But it'll be nice to have a couple of days off

This Christmas I shall mostly be eating sprouts and attending Church. NOT.

I have several variants of Tequila and Rum I shall be delving into on the eve of the baby Jesus' big day, thereafter I shall be sampling the delights of chocolate based goodies whilst watching Queenie Liz give her anus horribulous speech. Boxing day will be a period of reflection and replays of The Great Escape with further advanced intervention into the wonderful world of Craft Beer and its associated pleasures. All with a big bag of the finest collie weed I can procure. Tuesday to Thursday will be driving in my Zed at any opportunity, closely followed by yet more Champagne and Lobster frivolity over the New Year celebrations. Then alas, I'll shall return back to reality. A wiser and happier dude all round I should think, eh what.

That's my plan for this evening.....

I'm cooking the "real" Christmas dinner in a few minutes... Lobsters in a shrimp, lemon and garlic butter, samphire, rosemary roasted potatoes and a little salad. Washed down with a vintage Moet. And perhaps I might partake of a Leffe or two whilst cooking....:pint:

Then a visit to my parents tomorrow, Julia's auntie on Boxing Day, and off to Cornwall next week..

Merry Christmas one and all....:santa:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

It sure is a 737-800 Gary and ironically, the aircraft you were looking at out of the window in your picture is the company I'll be working for in the new year! Some good friends of mine have been working the new Ryanair Belfast base, seems to be doing well.

Good luck with your new job at Jet2 JP but must say not very happy with the Ryanair 737 as it had no coat hooks magazine net and the seats don't recline. Plus the windows are to low as I love to watch out the windows but after a while my neck got sore. They need to be at least another 12 inches higher.

Anyway back in Belfast now after leaving Lanzarote this morning. So what seat am I in this time JP?

16a possibly lol, all package short haul and charter dont have reclining seats and i guess the seats are higher to give you the impression of more legroom, hence the window seems lower  thats progress for yer :whistling:

I remember last year we had reclining seats to Lanzarote its a 4 hour flight from Belfast and your on the wrong side of the aircraft Graham with the seat numbers mate. :)

18 or 19F. Slightly concerning seeing the fire engine there waiting! [emoji95][emoji91] [emoji602]

Yes dont know why they were sitting at the side of the runway as there was no problems. Perhaps they were just training and spot on with the seat number again JP its 19F :thumbup1:

Flying back to uk at 19.00 from Tenerife.

The weeks weather has not been good!

I guess some budget airlines still have them but Ryanair locked out all the recline mechanisms on their seats quite a few years ago. There's more leg room in the back of a 2+2 Z than there is on these budget airlines so the last thing you need is the kid in front of you bouncing the seat forward and backward all flight. If you fly on Ryanair and the seat reclines, its broken so sit back and enjoy it haha!
