Sabellaz32 Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Does anyone know if Nissan still stock the factory steering wheels? Managed to get a lot of factory bits from Nissan but now want a new wheel as mine is worn. Deffo wanting factory wheel though none of these aftermarket ones. Jake Quote
TonyB Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 get one off wrecker and get Mondo to retrim it Quote
RichardS Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 get one off wrecker and get Mondo to retrim it I agree - if Nissan still does supply them, they will be pretty expensive! Mondo did mine OEM style and it's bloody excellent.... Quote I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
Sabellaz32 Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Cheers! Who is this person who retrims them? Quote

Mondo Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 That would be me. I do have a spare wheel here, but it's not retrimmed at this point in time. :) Quote

Sabellaz32 Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 http://www.elitejdm.com/productimages/interior/steeringwheels/00047_1.JPG This is exactly like the wheel in mine, no buttons pre 94 with no airbag, also mine has a black badge instead of the one in the pic which has a circular shiney z badge. I'm wanting to keep the car as it was from factory so don't want to get the wrong wheel as picky as it sounds haha! Cheers, Jake Quote
Mondo Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Your black badge is actually a broken badge, to the best of my knowledge. :thumbup1: Quote
Sabellaz32 Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Ahh I was wondering if that was the case, I think you're right I think it's missing! Quote
Sabellaz32 Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Hello, do you have a picture of this wheel I can see? Cheers Quote

Cheers, Jake Richard's post shows what the factory finish would pretty much have looked like when the car was brand new. The leather would have a matt or satin finish to it, in keeping with the plastic used on the centre pad. As the leather wears, it starts to go all shiny. That's the surface finish being worn away as the wheel passes through your hands day to day. 80s/90s Japanese leather is notoriously poor quality. Even the hide they use in the 350Z and 370Z is pretty ropey stuff and starts to wear pretty swiftly. Quote
Sabellaz32 Posted November 20, 2016 Author Posted November 20, 2016 Ahh okay mate thankyou, so do you reckon you will be able to do me a wheel then? I'm definitely in need of one as mine is totally sun damaged and worn from hands etc Quote

Mondo Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Can't wait to see how good it looks compared to my correct one! Feast your eyes then.... ;) I dislike trimming these wheels... that long top curve takes ages to do and really takes a toll on my hands! Still, it's a fine looking end result  Quote
Funkysi Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Si made me a happy man too. :D Excuse the first photo, I hadn't pushed the wheel centre on properly. Quote
Joely P Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 A black emblem would finish that wheel off nicely Simon (instead of pink). [emoji13] Quote
