Hi all, been looking around for a while and decided to bite the bullet and just ask.... I am having low pressure issues in terms of when cold shows correct temp and then drops to 0 ish when warmed up. I have seen on here that you could try changing the sensor. Not being incredibly good at the mechanical stuff I cannot find a definitive image of what one looks like when out and on a table in front of me OR where abouts it is. I could also do with a bit of info on mechanical checking of the oil pressure. An idiots guide or image with a big damn arrow would be great too!! I know its a lot to ask but I will make it up to you all by attending a few meets when this badass is sorted! Thank you in advance. Steve

Just a note, unless you have an early z32 or early engine, the sensor is on the passenger side not the drivers side oil tree as in the picture above.

Easiest way to remove is a crow foot 17 mm on an an extension bar to go over the top of the sensor, be prepared for a small amount of oil to leak out.

Cheers dude, gotta give it a go... makes you feel all manly if it works!!!

Really is a 5 minute job if you have done it before, jack the car up on the passenger side, secure and slide under with a torch so you can locate and undo it, have a rag ready to catch the drips, refit the new one by hand until tight and nip up with the tool.

I thought the passenger side location was an NA and LHD thing Jeff rather than Early late. The port is there on in both positions for RH and LHD cars it's just that for TTs with the turbo and steering column in the way the LHD version doesn't fit and vice versa?

Pretty sure his is an 89 if it makes a difference to where it is

It is an 89 TT BUT it has a 92-94 engine according to the motor factors.....if that makes a difference. I will have a look in both places. Thank you guys for your help.

Having changed more than I can remember over the years you can find them in both positions turbo and non turbo, import and left hand drive, my first zed back in 1994 which was a genuine 89 car was an import twin turbo and the sensor was on the drivers side oil tree location.

When fitting after market oil gauges the blanked oil tree location on twin turbo`s is often used for the new gauge sensor and fits ok, if the OP has a 92 - 94 engine it will be on the passenger side for sure, saying that motor factors are unlikely to know the difference and just going by application lists, which are mostly the same for early and late engines.

Yeh I guess,

I've had 2 Zeds and change the sensor on both.

One an 89, the other a 93. Both had sensor on the passenger side. :)

This rings alarm bells. I think you need to proceed with caution here.

Engine oil in the position you mention is almost always cam end seals. Check link below of a tech thread of mine.

Awesome thanks for link

Doe anyone knows by any chance what thread the pressure sender is? I would like to use the leftside for an aftermarket-oil-pressure gauge. It looks like 10x1,25 but not sure.

Thanks

Oil pressure sender on 300zx are known to give trouble , sometimes if you get a small drill and drill out the inlet hole in the sender it fixes the problem.
