First line, is there a seal at the top. Yes, the bonnet sits on it, but it's not inbetween the two.

Just happen to have mine off the nose panel whilst it's being resprayed, metal frame with rubber top and bottom :cool3:.

There can be a seal from the factory, however it was deleted later in the production cycle for cost cutting reasons. My '94 UK spec

didn't have one (but did have the threaded holes in the nose panel). I added one later (as above in Andy's post).

That's just large corporations bud. Government funded ones are the best, I can think of one that tend to send a whole packs of 100 bolts when one bolt was required. Then lay off staff due to funding shortages whilst still recruiting for new ones. Don't worry though because the top knobs will still get there six figure salaries.

Oddly the replacement seal kit still seems to have both.

My company make me laugh with their short sighted cost cutting efforts. I have to travel abroad quite regularly at the drop of a hat and have to get last minute hotels. To save a few quid, the clever bods decided to cap the amount we spend on a hotel (fair enough, we don't expect a nightstop at the Ritz!).

 

I remember one particular occasion where I needed a hotel near Oslo in Norway, but as the nearest available hotel was €10 over the "cap" they sent me to another hotel; it cost them €300 in a taxi to get me there lol!
