Does anyone run 18x9 front rims on stock arches/suspension?

is there enough room or is 8.5J the safer choice?

Keith Newport i think runs a 9.5 on his front

Oh wow. If there's no issues with that I could go for my first choice rim which would have to be a 9.5 front..

Keith's

But his suspension is not lowered too much.

Mine is on stock suspension so I'm not too worried about that. Just rubbing when turning left/right, thanks for finding the photo

You need to know the offset bud. The diameter of the wheel is immaterial as long as the rolling radius isn't changed and the width, 8j, 9j etc are meaningless to an extent without the offset. You would struggle to fit a 6j with a massively wrong offset.

Ah right! My first time buying my own set of aftermarket rims. How do I know what offsets to be going for? I have stock suspension and currently there's 17x8 on the fronts and 17x9 on rear...

I just had a read of that thread. I think i understand how it works.. but not how i would choose what offset to go for..

Can anyone help me out? i was looking at two options..

I'm on standard suspension and have had the rear arches widened by approx 1 inch..

1 (ideal):

18x9.5 front

18x10.5 rear

2:

18x8.5 front

18x10.5 rear (Maybe 10? What would be better)

Coming to the closing stages of my cars overhaul so it needs these touches to be perfect.. any help is massively appreciated (I am searching google trying to figure it out myself, not to just try ditch the work for someone else to do and then tell me but if you know, then its easier..)

mine is a 9.5 running a 245/40/18 ride nice and meets the wheel arch well.

is that 9.5 front? No rubbing or any issues?

Edited by Evaansss

iv got a little scrape on the passenger side, rubbing on a wheel arch bolt when going down bumps. but only passenger side. think my tension rod is naffed and the wheel is sitting a little forwards in the arch so thats a fault with my car, never used to do it.

So this is what i was looking at, i think the Front would be okay, but my instinct is the rear will likely by off.. not sure it makes too much a difference but the rear arch is widened roughly 1 inch.

Front: 18x9.5 ET38

Rear: 18x10.5 ET12

Is my instinct correct?

FYI Keiths fronts are my old rear wheels off my white zed, cruise 190's I believe so you could probably get the offset info of ebay. Im pretty sure Keith runs meister R coilovers so if you are running stock shocks they should clear.

Thanks for the link Chris,

These are the results i got against the stock front and back size and offset, do these seem reasonable? as said a few times my rear arches are approx 1" wider (25.4mm)

Front 18x9.5 ET22

Inner Clearance:2mm LESS (the inside of the wheel to the strut housing)

Outer Position:EXTEND 48mm (position of the outside edge of the wheel)

Rear 18x10.5 ET12

Inner Clearance:2mm LESS (the inside of the wheel to the strut housing)

Outer Position:EXTEND 48mm (position of the outside edge of the wheel)

This seems like it would work?

Mine sit 38mm further out at the front, this is a really crap photo but best I got at the moment

Depends what tyres you want I suppose

Oh and mines on lowering springs

What width are they? Do they sit flush with the arch?

In terms on tyres, I'd go for what fits without being ditch finders..

8.5, I have 12mm more inside clearance than stock. I consider mine to be pretty much flush

That's pretty much all the photos I have though!

With the extra height you may get away without stretched tyres. But stock suspension is also pretty soft so you could end up hitting them over bumps. Hard to say and I'm hardly an expert, but personally I'd be wary of having non-stretched tyres on those. Not that I like stretched tyres :-P

I run a 18x9.5 et22 front, lovely fitment on a 255 tyre and no scrubbing. Run 18x10.5 et 30 on a 295 tyre. Had to flare the rear arches quite a bit as they poked out by about an inch

That's brilliant so the front rim at that size should be fine. Just need to know if the rear 18x10.5 ET12 would work :/

No well et 12s will protude a further 18mm more than mine, so I would suggest no they won't

Any pictures of the front?
