Sorry for such a basic question but what is the stock power output of my '91 manual TT?

I've always thought it was 280bhp but just checked as I'm doing a modified vehicle report for the insurance company and have read 300bhp a few times so guessing it varies by year?

Thanks

I believe it's 280 for an auto and 300 for a manual. Slightly different turbos

That would explain it, thanks Andy

is there any other difference between auto and manual? besides turbo and box?

Autos have milder cams and a lower AR turbo, the exhaust housing is smaller, just. The slush box has a higher parasitic drain on the drive line as well. Mean while in the real world it makes a very minimal if any noticeable difference. If anything a converted auto will be more responsive.

Auto`s are faster !

There should be a slight drop in power from '96 on as they dropped VVT, but the officially stated figure remained the same.

Yep, although VVT effects low down power/torque rather than peak power.
