Taz6665 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Hi All. How do I 100% confirm my car is a UK car ? ...many thanks In advance Quote
Funkysi Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Check the V5, it'll usually give you a clue in the vehicle description. UK cars I believe should just be 'Nissan 300zx'. JDM cars come listed as all sorts of things. VIN number should also, however I'm not able to tell. AndrewG would. There are other tell-tale signs such as lighting configuration (front), interior trim, glass type and t-top inner design. UK cars don't have electric fold-in mirrors etc. Quote
JeffTT Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 (edited) Lots of give away clues but the easiest is to look at the vin number on the slam panel under the bonnet the VIN number on import cars starts with Z or C and UK cars with a J Jeff Import one below Edited September 1, 2016 by JeffTT Quote
dutchgold92 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 C or Z C, Z, G or H, but yes it's a good distinction. Quote

Alic Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Most obvious giveaway imo is the back bumper has a uk sized number plate mounting, and fogs built in next to it. The bumper could have been changed but unlikely. Then theres info above to check, blue glass etc...^^^ Quote

The bumper could have been changed but unlikely. Then theres info above to check, blue glass etc...^^^ Seen many zeds with different bumpers both ways, many body shops who did crash repairs in years gone by did not know the difference and fitted UK ones to imports and yes seen it the other way around, many owners prefer the look of the non original bumper or wheels or what ever. Also the mot check service on line gives away the import date as the 1st registration date, so if you have a 93 k reg with a 1st registration of 2003 then its a give away as an import, let alone the stack of different trims etc. Jeff Quote
arthur Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Although the nose panel can be changed the U.K. Badge is nissan not Z ? Quote

dutchgold92 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 My jspec had the hamburger logo :s Pretty sure it varied on model years not location. Yours was changed if it's an import. Quote

Funkysi Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 (edited) My jspec had the hamburger logo :s Pretty sure it varied on model years not location. WRONG!!!! Again! Your car has been in the country for eons - it'll have been changed. JDM cars ALL had 'Z' nose panels, all of them. The rest of the world had hamburger logos albeit 90 model-year US cars which had no nose badge whatsoever. Edited September 1, 2016 by Funkysi Quote
Stephen Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Check chassis number, job done. Why the need to know and the rush? It makes very little difference most insures don't even care these days. Quote
dutchgold92 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 It makes very little difference most insures don't even care these days. They do over here. I bet I could insure a nice, rotten Irish twin turbo for half the cost  Quote

Slick Pete. Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Check the V5, it'll usually give you a clue in the vehicle description. It gives more than a clue Si. Section 3 on the front page..."Special notes (these notes cannot be removed)" On all imported 300ZXs that are used it says..."Was registered overseas. Declared manufactured 19**" No need to even look at the car!!! Quote

In a nut-shell..... All cars first used/registered in the UK - irrespective of make/model - have a 17 character VIN. Quote I have something to say............
