It's made of welded steel, can't imagine that baking temperatures would affect it. I'm interested in getting this done too as the stock painted finish is about as durable as single-ply toilet paper.

Black of course for me, with a new OEM bolts and a new drainage bolt.

ok thanks, yeah put me foot down and told Cam it has to be gloss black, will be getting Dave to sort it once me new sump arrives will keep you updated.

yeah no worries from heat distortion, however if you get it shotblasted (which you should to clear off the old paint first), then make sure you have no particles trapped under the baffles afterwards. Flush it out before fitting with a good wash.

they use a very strong acid bath which it would be put into for some time it strips off all paint and any other residues attached to the inside and outside of sump so will be extremely clean before its powdercoated but will still be mindful of checking for any trapped stuff

dan.

Can't recall what's inside the sump baffles. I know that there's sealant inside the rocker covers that the acid would dissolve. If this is the same deal in the sump, then I'd keep it away from acid baths. Best solution is soda blasting.

I will have a look later in the old sump I presume any sealant would be used to hold the baffles in place if not welded?

I will second Si's weapon of choice and Soda Blast....... it will just wash away afterward and leaves a protective coat on bare metal till powder coated......

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

baffles are deffo spot welded on cant see where any sealant would be used will post a pic once its done.

Por-15 is apparently really good stuff to use, will be using this on my rear subframe, bit of a ball ache doing the prep with different products, but it should be really good hardwearing stuff

With regards to Por-15, it is very good, and really durable, but if you're spraying it make sure you use a proper filtered mask!, i've read quite a few stories from people in america not using adequate breathing apparatus and breathing in particulates,....its really nasty stuff
