Thanks man!!! There's a couple guys on the 300zxclub forum that were helping me out. I think the shipping from the UK to the US would be a bit I believe... Or is it higher from me to you?!

But anyway I sourced an ole one from Z1 very cheap! Joel at Z1 was great since I had a little issue on another order and it's not like they sell probably more that 3 auto shifters yearly... LOL..!

I'm still waiting on another one to try another stitching, leather combo & modification with.

What happened to yours? If I remember correctly, you modified it didn’t you?

Let's say...... Hypothetically..... Ummmmm some smart guy decided to remove the console again to find a rattle that he found and being a car guy wanting to tinkle more... so I (ummm him lol) took the shifter assembly to add more screws to the shift boot base and to work on shortening the shaft an inch. He had meeting for a few days so He took it with him did the mod, it was looking great!!!!!!. Decided to put a creamy conditioner on it, put it on the bed of the truck in the DoubleTree parking lot, took a couple of business calls, daughters needed him(took family too), ran back in to meet other contractors, had dinner, took lil ones to get swim caps, etc!

He didn't think about it until the next morning when one of the general contractors(that he met on check it saw the assembly, who talked his love of sports cars, owns a Dodge Stealth RT & Z31) said, "how did your shifter grip turn out? I wanna see it." Went back to the room and remembered it was left on the truck with the dremel, small tool case... Needless to say it was all stolen!!!!!

That's right.... Hypothetically that's what happened. and the smart guy feels like a dummy!!!!

That is a shame... Hypothetically though of course :whistling:.

I was curious to find out if there was some mishap as a result of your modification. I’m planning to modify an auto shifter myself and was hoping to learn from others, such as yourself, who have already modified one.

I will certainly modify it again!!! This time it will not leave the house. It was simple I just took off an inch from the shaft and made a shift rod that goes in the shaft an inch shorter then had it welded back... Put it back and it LOOKED awesome! I left the option of going lower if I needed to

Too bad I didn't get a chance to install it, try it out and take pix.... Before "you know" :glare:

Once I get it all shipped back again I will post a tutorial. Chris at LeatherWheels.com is doing the knob again and Mike from Redlinegoods.com is doing the bootcover again.

Got the new shift knob redo as the other in from Chris at LeatherWheels and it looks better (if That's possible)! Super quick turn around and superb job!!! Thanks Joel at Z1 for the great price and quick shipping of the donor shift knob and assembly. Steering wheel emblem is nice too...

Redline shift boot cover is scheduled to be here tomorrow

Post pix later once boot cover arrives
