eBay link to an NA auto

Advertised as a twin turbo and it looks like people are bidding accordingly. But I fear the engine bay is a little less cramped than it should be...

I've taken the liberty of sending a message recommending that the seller correct the listing, but I can't imagine that's going to happen somehow.

I fear the owner just doesn't know any better. He saw turbo written on the mat/rear and was like 'cool man i got a turbo Z!'

Either that or he's a scumbag

I reckon that too.... Most people don't know what the car is, let alone all the versions it came in outside the UK.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

If the Owner doesn't know any better, then nor do the bidders! Obviously the lure of body kits, turbos (or not) and a little known GT has got a few peeps blinkered in excitement!

He might be a victim rather than a scumbag. If said car was purchased as a TT and the owners never questioned it.

I asked them about the add and they replied that the son had put the details up as a TT, no suggestion to revise or remove...trying to get away with it i feel!

As long as the buyer notices soon enough, it should be pretty easy to get a refund as the 'item doesn't match the listing description'

eBay's generally pretty good about it.

Fairly sure eBay doesn't let you pay for cars through PayPal though.

Oh of course, if it's cash on hand then the buyer is pretty f****d

They don't protect incorrectly described sub models, but I guess that turbo is counted as a trim package not a different model.

Purchases are covered by VPP in the situations below:

  1. You pay for a vehicle or send a refundable deposit for a vehicle and never receive the vehicle.
  2. You pay for a vehicle and receive it, but suffer a loss because:

    1. The vehicle was determined by a law enforcement agency to have been stolen prior to your purchase.
    2. The vehicle has an undisclosed or unknown lien against its title.
    3. The vehicle make, model or year is different than what was described in the seller's listing at the time you placed your bid or offer. Note, however, that VPP does not protect you if the seller's description was inaccurate with respect to the vehicle's sub-model, trim packages or special editions.
    4. You did not receive a title from the seller (and a title is required by both your state and the seller’s state) and it's not possible to obtain a title from the appropriate DMV.
    5. The vehicle had a title with one of the following undisclosed brands (salvage, rebuilt/rebuildable, unrebuildable, reconstructed, scrapped/destroyed, junk, lemon, manufacturer buyback or flood/water damage) at the time of the end of the listing. (This protection is not available for vehicles listed in the Dune Buggy, Race Car or Trailer categories.)
    6. The vehicle is less than 20 years old and has more than a 5,000 mile odometer discrepancy from the mileage stated in the seller's listing. (This protection is only available for vehicles listed in the Car & Truck and RV & Camper categories.)
    7. The vehicle is less than 10 years old (based on model year) and has undisclosed damage to the (a) engine, (b) transmission, and/or © body/frame (each a "qualifying component"). The cost of repair to each qualifying component must exceed $1,000. For vehicles listed in the Bus, Commercial Truck, and RV & Camper categories, the cost of repair for the undisclosed damage to each qualifying component must exceed $1,500. For vehicles listed in the Boat category, the cost of repair for the undisclosed damage to each of the engine or the hull must exceed $1,500. This protection is not available for vehicles listed in the Race Car category. Vehicles that are subject to a recall for this type of damage are not eligible for VPP.

I just asked if the turbos work ok and he just came back to say it's not a tt but he is relying on people noticing that fact in the engine bay pic

Looks like it but then if you buy one without research then your kind of stupid anyway!!!

Pretty shocking behaviour considering they've revised the listing once for things like a reserve price, but won't give an accurate and correct description of the car... even when various people have pointed out the error!

Hope I see it relisted very soon.....

Nissan designates the variants as different models in their own right, so a TT is not the same model as a NA.

Good to know, Buyer might have a leg to stand on then,

Cheers :)

This has been up for sale loads of times....... and always with the wrong information..... He knows it's wrong, just keeps waiting for someone to buy it and not realise!

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

It's not even that tidy, faded paint and some cheap mods. Then someone bid £3100 really? Must sell mine!!

I asked him to clarify if this is a turbo or not before I bid, sent it this morning and still awaiting a response

He's just going to tell you its not but he's not changing the listing so unaware buyers wont notice

If you look at the bid history, there are lots of bids from a couple of people with single figure feedback... I'd say the seller's been using multiple accounts (or friends) to inflate the price!

The whole thing just gets worse..... :(

All this is well and good, but the thing that gets me the most is the assertion that it is "Very Economical"...

The Title of this thread should have been "Pulling a Slow One!" and no we are not starting the TT v NA thread!
