Hi Z'eders, i'm selling my Z on this forum Forum Link ,

and also stuck it on ebay Classified eBay Link ,

but got no interest so far, would appreciate any pointers, am i way of the mark on price?? or is there just no interest in these cars atm, since i assumed they were finally becoming a sought after classic.

yes i could keep hold of her, but could really do with releasing the money tied up in her.

cheers

They are becoming a sought after classic, wouldn't say they're there yet. Personally don't think the price is wrong. But people's budgets tend to be lower as from what I can tell people want to buy from 3-4K so will probably take longer to get a buyer..

My thoughts, could be wrong.

Leave it where it is.

It's pretty damn clean, looks completely stock too.

I reckon its worth every penny, and probably a lot more.

Yeah, that's kinda what i figured regards price, since if i lowered it people will assume there's a problem, which of course there isn't, it's totally stock. Cheers for input.

Would it be that hard to fix the window?

Good price for a desirable car, short of being a manual it's the most desirable format in my opinion. As said though it may take a little while to find the right (interested party with money they are prepared to part with) buyer, rather than dreamers. If I was on the market one I think I'd pay that, but I'm not, I already own one.

I would sort the window and leave the price as is. F reg so a nice early one and in good condition I think it will sell at that price

Nah, it's a just take the door panel off and swap in the replace amp unit i have, and that should sort the window, as i've already changed the switch so i know thats ok.

Then I would advise changing it then there are no bad points ;)

FYI no need to remove the door panel, unclip the bottom, middle section lay on the floor look up behind the panel and you will see the old amplifier / relay and can reach and unplug it, pass the new one up and plug in, done. Good luck with the sale.

Cheers Jeff, I now really have no excuse not to do it.

i've been a good boy this morning, and changed the Windows Amp, so it does now work. though i have to smile at Jeff's comment about just unclip the bottom of the door to get to it.... yep if the old amp unit gently slides of it's bracket then no problem, but when it's welded on with age then you end up having to take the whole door panel off to get the bracket off to then wrestle the amp of the bracket.... hey-ho, all done now.

IMO, the whole "auto vs manual" thing will become less and less important as these cars get more rare....

......It's just a fad; a phase in the car's progression through time. In the early days (pre-Jap imports), the autos were worth more - just as many new cars are now; when using the likes of CAP, Glasses Guide etc. (back when the 300zx was listed....... ) as the sources of valuation. But as performance cars age, lose their value and become affordable to the masses, the "kidz" want manuals; so the autos lose the edge and become less desirable. Then perceived values drop.

Now there are fewer remaining, condition will prevail and the differences in transmissions will close once more. And I'm not just saying that because I own an auto....

So to finish, all I'll say, is in this present age, virtually all high performance cars are autos - from the best that Audi/BMW/Merc/Porsche have to offer; right up to the hypercars from McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini and (the ultimate) Bugatti.......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Would I be wrong in saying that there are more autos than there are manual Zs?

As you say with the new cars, when the Z came out it was the 'newish' fast shifting thing for sports cars, and if you got lots of money why would you buy the old fashioned car. By todays standards the box is nothing special, and a bit slow.

The price I would think is a mixture of enthusiasts ('kids') wanting the manuals, and the lower production numbers (i think) mean it has a higher price.

Not sure Ali..... But it could explain why the current preference (hence price) leans towards manual, as there are less to chose from. But in the UK, most buyers from new would certainly have ticked the "auto" option. Stands to reason, the 300zx is a GT car; and back in the early 1990s, at £35k plus, it was an expensive car. Potential buyers might have been in the market for the XJS or the like - same as those buying an XK8 or BMW 6-series today.

Car is right up my street, unfortunately the timing isn't.

Hey Daffy, what sort of timing you working towards? since i can garage the car for u if interested, maybe a small holding deposit until the time is right?

Let's not turn it into another auto vs manual debate. It's certainly got nothing to do with the "kidz". Older performance cars are always popular as manual for multiple reasons. Manual 300zx's are more popular and subsequently worth more, that's a fact. Finding a manual is harder, supply and demand. By the logic you apply the most desirable format would be a 2+2 twin turbo auto, when we know the most desirable is a stick top manual, the "poverty spec" it's simple supply and demand.

Most high peformance cars today use semi automatic gearboxes that don't have the torque converter as found in the Z32

automatic - this gives the performance feel of a manual gearbox by providing a direct connection between the engine and wheels.

I'm also happy to be one of those "kidz"!

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

The price looks fair to me, although I feel some better photos would help. The grey is a nice colour but its not easy to photograph at its best and can look a little drab and dirty without the right lighting and scene.

You really cant compare modern day Semi-Autos with older 90's Autoboxes. I have a Semi Auto Paddle shift in my Bmw 335i and I would'nt have it any other way its a fantastic box and like night and day to the Z autobox.

As these older cars become even older, rarer and more collectible the Manual will only become more desirable. Look at older porsches, the autos are much cheaper as nobody wants them.

Hi this car was/is on my radar, just been so busy with work and also considering the whole manual / auto box plus a few other cars have recently come up. Plus I still think that a manual 2+2 TT is still the car that people think of for a 300zx

I do think we are seeing prices rising but it's early days, it takes time for people to realise that, so current prospective buyers like me have the seen prices rise in the past 2 years so for whatever reason they didn't buy a car a few years ago (it was kids for me) they now have to get over the fact they are going up in value which is great for the Z but as many know its not about buying one of these it's about the time and money to keep it on the road. IMO I think if this was a manual it would have gone straight away.

Price wise from a prospective buyer I think that:

3k to 5k for an original car in great condition won't sit around for long

4k to 7.5K Well looked after modded car.

Of course there will be Z cars that buck the trend but prices are on the up but you don't buy one of these cars with your head even the best man maths doesn't add up to making these a cheap car run. That said I'm still hoping I will be driving one this year.

Hi Adam, I'm open to offers, and these are not so bad to keep running & insure (classic car cover is very cheap).
