My Z is due to go in for a complete body haul and respray in a couple weeks and i am half minded to try and widen the rear arches a bit to give a bit of unique styling.

something like this grabs my eye..

hoods.jpg

I would only want to widen the rear though as don't want the car to look chubby..

Any thoughts on this?

That orange turd that Alic posted is an old Iber Designs kit - it always used to sit as the very first image when viewing '300zx' in google! Thankfully it no longer does and the orange one (I've seen before) is the first and only Z I have seen with this kit on. Hewn from a solid lump of MDF, it looks like a staircase that's been converted into a car.

You don't like it methinks because it only as one nostril so the balance is lost, two would of worked better and goes pretty much without saying .

Not a fan personally. The Strosek ones are probably the least favourite of the popular kits, some of the metal fabricated ones look nice, the blue one Rich posted the previous page works well, but generally they don't, they completely throw the balance off unless ultra subtle.

Don't even get me started on ****ing Rocket Bunny kits!!!!

....This....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thats probably because he's going to post something like this

Personally it's the attention to detail that does it. The quality blending and filler work, the expertly spaced panel gaps and the balanced look the wheels give to fill those arches. I bet it makes the car lighter too.

I don't like the styleeven so, it is very badly done, none of the panels are smooth and the hood etc doesnt line up, and the rear arch just steps up without any attempt to smooth it out. I honestly don't knwo how people who make these think it looks like a supercar etc. looks like garbage

Anyhow... :offtopic:

I can just see them standing back and smiling with a sense of unadulterated pride!...then the welding mask comes off..:helpsmilie:

I have been considering how much you could roll out a flare on the rear arch to provide more of a hip, I've always the felt the 300 looks too flat at the rear compared to the front, but the main issue I can see is the Fuel filler (LWB) being to close to the arch to maintain a profile throughout...sorely tempted to try though,

I think Dans *old car is the far maximum you can go, but obviously he had alot to smooth it in.

Oh I think it looks like mutant pig that swallowed a grenade and then sat there for a week, but I didn't think I had point that out. If I'm totally honest, and as many of here know the cherry on the turd for me is the fact it's ****ing orange! :taz: rant over. Normal service will now resume.

I'm not actually sure that the filler flap would even work.

I agree! although I think many wide arches make the car sit heavy at the rear, ideally it would be great to go from the top of the filler line and progressively rounded out perhaps a couple of inches, the fronts I think have a fantastic profile from the top of the wing, but as the per the Op enquired it seems we are lumbered with stuck on arch extensions, which given a few exceptions are pretty awful!

Oh really........:glare::2guns:

Not really actually. You know the car I was think of? It wasn't yours actually! Ha I always think of shorties and its the proportions on those it throws off. Most don't fit the right wheels. Yours has a collection of stuff that suits, especially those wheels. Just get the bodywork all painted Howard! lol

Have a look at my blue zed thread, one of the last ones on it has a savage metal arch on the rear made from a front arch, It's very subtle and looks almost factory:thumbup:

In fact....HERE IT IS

I think the is the least offensive wide arch I've ever seen. So, that is as close as I will ever get to a recommendation ! ;)

Any more photos of this Richie? I like it... and might have some wings lying around lol

I'd have said CarMad's car has less offensive wide arches

The more I look at this zed,it's exactly what I'm doing to mine,it's just enough flare I think without compromising on the standard look, what do you think?

I'm in the same boat, Want want want!

Agreed, I think it's got the right proportions to look almost factory:clap:

I'll see if the chap has any more pics:thumbup: as far as I can tell it's just the arch off the front wings welded to the rear to give a subtle, blended flared arch

Looks great bud. Who made the panel for you

The body shop Im using (Davies Motors) picked a generic arch from *for example* a Mondeo and then made it fit that little bit better, not sure on specifics but it was cheaper than a Z arch
