Simply out of curiosity, what are people's Zed's mileage at and how much do they do every year?

Mine is 46k miles, which compared to daily drivers is quite low for its age. The use of these cars is obviously very different, generally being a weekend car etc, or just locked away in a garage.

I'm on 103,000 miles (genuine, on UK car with history, MOTs etc).....

I bought this Zed in August 2009 from PhilP, with 69,000 miles. My insurance limits me to 5k miles PA - and I like to get my money's worth:wink:

But whilst I make sure I use it regularly throughout the year, it is still a second car; reserved for weekends and holidays, as I have another car for daily use.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

5k seems a reasonable amount as it gives you the freedom to drive it when you feel like, whereas I was thinking about 1k, where you would be limited to shows and the odd cruise.

That's exactly my reasoning mate! The Zed lives in my garage most of the time; but Julia and I do like our trips out on Sundays - and when the weather is good, it's always nice to take the Zed.... Similarly for holidays - as much as I love my every day car, if I'm driving 250+ miles down to Cornwall, for instance, I just think bugger the fuel consumption and take the Zed...

Even though the Zed is getting older, it does still seem to "like" getting regular use. In fact, I think it runs better with use - so limiting myself to just 1,000 miles PA would probably not be so good for the car!

46k miles? It must be utterly immaculate...

Paint is the one thing needing attention (not related to mileage), but the seats were quite good condition for cloth (though I switched them out for OEM leather seats).

So pretty much the stuff that deteriorates with age (paint, plastic) are on the way out, mechanically its good, which is why I bought it :)

My point being that a huge number of Z32s don't show the correct mileage. Not saying yours doesn't, but cars with genuine low mileage still have all the cadmium plating on most of the bolts, not rust and almost zero wear on plastics and fabrics.

That's a fair point, no rust thankfully.

I have no idea about 80% of the mileage as its been in Japan, but since import MOTs say it's done around 7k in 10 years, and Martin saying it was left in a shed for 8.

Not saying it hasn't, but giving context.

In June 2014 119,478 Kms = 74,760 Miles

May 2016 128,987 Kms = 80,616 Miles

So in two years 6K miles done.

Not my daily car

Roughly 75k and averaged 0 miles in the last 5 years.

My Slicktop has 42k, and I average 0 miles per year.

Tut tut tut, though Yowser doesn't have an engine at the moment lol

Just about to hit 128,000 KM. I'm doing roughly 8,000 KM per year, and incidentally, that's the average that the car has done for the past 16 years!

Mine has 85,000 on the clock. I do between 2k-4k a year depending on whether I'm doing any long-haul euro road trips in it. It gets driven predominantly in the summer when it's dry. I avoid ALL potential salty road conditions and never take it out in the wet and it's been garaged since I've owned it (first UK owner) in nearly 12 years.

Whilst my car gets babied and maintained at all cost, it also gets a lot of use in the summer months and I don't drive it with a light foot either.

I do believe you can "edit" a Zeds mileage by twisting something at the back of a clock, so I doubt most are genuine without paperwork to prove it.

Mine is on 198,000 (a mixture of Kms and old money) and i do about 10K a year in it, less and less now actually. My red one is laid up, but that is around 60K (off the top of my head). The highest mileage car ive owed was an Audi 80 coupe with 268K on it and it was still going strong!

1990 Black MT NA LWB = 2014 - 2020 (Sold)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2015 - 2017 (Stripped & Scrapped)

1991 Red MT TT LWB = 2017 - 2021 (Sold)

1991 Black MT TT LWB = 2018 - 2021 (Sold)

1989 Red AT TT LWB = 2021 - XXXX (Kept)

Mine is on 198,000 (a mixture of Kms and old money)

Does nobody else find this a bit... retarded? If you're changing the clocks, why not adjust to what it should be? Seems to me you can't trust the mileage of really any Japanese import in the UK.

I agree, mine says about 129k however this is a mix between kilometres and miles. When purchased it was sold as having approx. 80k miles.

Just over 33k on the clocks, not had much chance to use her with the weather we have had so I've literally drove from the previous owners to mine & been to Lee at LA Auto two or three times. Honestly doubt ill cover more than 1k miles a year.
