Me & my dad bought a new project this week, a 2010 vw transporter. It's just a panel van at the moment but we've got plans to turn it into a camper/day van. So jobs are to put windows in it, electrics, insulation & carpet it all out. Then decide how far we wana go with it. Might just put a bed in it or go for units, sink, cupboards etc. Needs a few mods to the exterior as well. Got it for a bargain price.

Cheers Gaz. I love it already, great little van. Hopefully it'll end up like this.

The t5 is a great van which carries mods very nicely. Good luck with it mate I'm jealous!!

My cousin converted his into a camper and it is quality although not much boot space however all the storage etc is built in if you do it correctly

I imagine storage would be an issue but we'll design something so it works.

As you know Tom i have a Transporter 2.5tdi 5 cylinder, one of the best vans ive ever owned and it goes like a stabbed rat too. Was going to do the same with mine as you but decided one day to use it for work and the dream ended there...:crying:

We've been working on Meg over the winter. Glass in the sides & back, curtains, leisure battery, led lights, Insulated & carpeted walls, new seats, full width rock & roll bed. & I've just fitted 20" range rover alloys. She's now ready for camping this summer, just bought an awning to fit on the side to give us more space. Just hope we get the weather now. I went with a bold orange theme for the seats but think it works well on these vans. Not too fussed on the rear seats so might ask mondo to design something new for next year but they'll do for now.

Holy Crap!!! that is some transformation Tom :bow: Niiiice, Did it cost much??

It wasn't too expensive. We got the van quite cheap off a friend so we could probably sell it for a lot more than we've got in it but it's not for sale. Price of them is stupid at the moment. We got a professional to fit the windows, electrics & insulation so that was our biggest cost but at least we know it's done properly.

wow...i never knew the range rover had the same fitment for the wheels Tom..looks totally fab mate:yes:

Yes mate. Just needed spigot rings, 5mm spacers & some range rover to Vw wheel nuts. Bentley wheels fit as well but they're expensive. I'll give you a vw wave if I go past you in it :-)

Yeh prices are very steep right now, even for high milers, the 'scene tax'. I did start looking at transit vans just before this one came up. Lucky to get this one. Just got to get all the camping gear now, a trip to Go Outdoors is needed.

look at just Kampers aswell I'm sure you are all over it. I used to be sales manager of motorcaravans so we had all shapes manufactured and home conversations.

Do you know what's the best pop top roof to go for? Be looking maybe next year but they are expensive.
