hi guys can you hear your after market dump valve /bov when you just revving the engine I cant hear any thing from my blitz valve just wondered if that's normal also if I rev the engine between 3000-4000 rpm I get pop n bang sound from the driver side exhaust only is that a misfire or sum thing on driver of engine .

With regards to the fan shroud being fitted or not, I wouldn't expect a difference in hot idle temps across a range of cars, what I would expect is a difference in the position of the thermostat and the grip of the clutch in the viscous coupling.

 

I agree with Stephen that the efficiency of the fan would most definitely be affected by not having a shroud fitted, but the system will counteract this loss in the same way it would on a hot or cold day. What it will do is move the ceiling at which the car can cope with the extreme hot conditions, however Noel's experience suggests that this change in the cooling capability and efficiency isn't enough to justify the installation of the shroud.

 

For me, with the cooling of these engines being so critical due to the amounts of heat they seem to hold, I'd rather keep it installed to let the system work as easily as possible with as much of a buffer as it can. Besides, it looks better with a shroud in my opinion.
