Guest dan300zx Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 so am stripping the car down ready for paint in 2 week. whats the best way to remove the door handles do I need to remove the glass and runner first ? looks tight in there all the door cards are off Quote
JaiKai Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Don't need to take the glass out but you will need small hands to take off the small wires for the lock mechanism. Take the door card off and you will see holes that you can get a socket head into. First time you do it, it feels like a krypton factor test. :) Quote
Guest dan300zx Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 is there just one nut or 2 holding the handle ? also is there any way to unplug the wiring as I need to remove the whole door ? Quote
JaiKai Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Door loom can be detached from next to the footwell at each side. You will need to remove the sill kick plate and the other plastic cover. Door handles have two nuts. Quote

Yeah, the roof liner has to come off. Although you can get away with just dropping it at the front. Sun visors, corner trims, rear view mirror, temp sensor/map light unit and the interior light will get you enough access to remove the nuts. From memory I think there's about 8. Quote
Guest dan300zx Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 will have a go the car is in bits now how it all goes back again am not sure as some of it was like 2 years ago its a total pain in the arse but must be do for a good paint job Quote
