Where do you buy these as 1 of mine is broken sadly. The pipes that run under the car.

Not sure if it's worth doing the brake lines at the same time?

Should be able to buy these oem Lee however it might be cheaper to find a hydraulic specialist locally and have one made. If you take the old one that can usually make one to match it.

Thanks Ian, I googled it but struggled to find much so I'm not sure whether im typing the wrong stuff in. Me referring to them as lines... Is that rights?

It's the metal lines that rung from front to back of the car under a plastic cover if that helps. Defo not hoses as in rubber

Ahh I see any garage with a brake line kit should be able to make one up for you mate I would have thought you just need the correct end fittings to crimp in place I guess

Breaker ?

Trouble with Zed breakers most of the hicas / steering pipes will look like this :

If you just have a leak at one point then you cut and fit a 10 mm line connector.

I'm not positive jeff but it looks like it's around the bend area where it goes up above the subframe.

Are these kind of things easy enough for garages to do though?

You can buy 10mm pipe with connectors and make up a repair section, needs to be up in the air though lee, 10 mm pipe not the easiest to bend though, still cheaper than new Nissan sections, another option is to remove the hicas and the pipes become redundant.

Thanks Jeff. So would I be best doing doing the lot? Or is it a real pita?

The main problem Lee is the route the original pipes take, really a mare to get right, running a simpler route may be possible and couple up at different points, you could even get high pressure 10 mm hoses made up at a hydraulics place, for me I would repair the damaged area only or do a hicas delete, depends on if your doing it on a ramp or at home.

Thanks Jeff. Think I'd like to have a go at replacing it... Probably at home but I could probably get it on a ramp if need be.

Does this look like the right stuff? The screws are 10mm thread but the pipe itself is 3/16". Or does the pipe itself need to be 10mm?

No that`s brake line, you need 10mm pipe with compression line connectors that have olive seals in them, most likely need to find a hydraulic pipe supplier in your area.

Jeff

mate, I dont have HICAS anymore but all the pipes are there, if you want them im happy for you to remove them.

  • Author

Any idea what condition they're in as I'd guess most are rotten or near the end of their lives like mine

Jeff, another quick question, sorry! So is it a certain type of 10mm pipe I'd need or is it a specific type? Like copper, steel, alumi etc?

Steel pipe is standard, hence why it corrodes, not sure if alloy pipe is available in that size, would certainly be easier to bend !!

Just looked on the nissan fast system and I can't even see the pipes listed... Unless I'm missing something.

I'd if just a 10mm OD pipe, I'm sure I could find some

Got the car in the air. Tried to take it piping off by disconnecting the hoses at the front end but, we needed to heat the joining bolts which basically lead to the rubber bit coming out. So that parts fooked now.

So, how do I illuminate all this shit hicas stuff?
